We'll see. It could be that it's just poorly worded in that email. I haven't heard anything (am in Sweden), neither has jin who's in Ukraine. When arrong asked them on twitter, they said it was only for some countries, not the majority of Europe. But either way, it's worrying that the exchange is shut down in one country after another, it certainly doesn't help liquidity.
bb, that sucks.

it was worsened step by step for me, starting with a worsened Rabatte ladder, then increasing comm rate from 5 to 6.5%, at last 2 weeks ago giving no rabattes at all, and now closing it completely. Can't understand the strategy behind

the purple one is not too bad for uk racing. Sometimes you even get better odds than betfair in the place market for hot favorites. There is a weird bot who offers 1 tick higher than betfair sometimes.

Don't know, you'd have to ask Betfair Austria/whoever sent you the email about that. Maybe they just listed some examples of countries where everything will be like before.

Betfair would like to make it clear that it presently accepts exchange bets from over 150 countries worldwide. The message below was aimed at Austrian customers in the context of switching off the exchange for commercial reasons on July 14th. There is no intention to restrict the exchange offer to the countries listed. Such countries simply represent some examples of jurisdictions we are currently licensed. The message was intended to provide Austrian customers with suggestions as to which jurisdictions they might bet from in the event that they decided to relocate.

well i imagine it costs them more to maintain a presence than they take in revenue.
personally, i never understood the approach of increasing commission in these territories. increasing rates rarely generates growth.

they abandoned the German hotline already when Germany was excluded due to legal reason, I could also live with abandoning the remaining German helpdesk and the German website, though I don't know if this will be abandoned too when Switzerland is not excluded. They never did advertising in Austria, so I don't see any specific costs.
