Report wisewords May 16, 2014 11:03 PM BST

Report aaronh May 16, 2014 11:04 PM BST
players that maybe test Nadal over 5 other than Djokovic and Stan(debatable still)

Dimitrov, Nishikori
Report smb360 May 16, 2014 11:04 PM BST
he looks more vulnerable in bo3, but even if Murray had taken that set on a TB or break at 4*-5, then he would probably have won about 4 games over the remaining two sets that bo5 would entail
Report smb360 May 16, 2014 11:05 PM BST
no way does Dimitrov have the stamina

he would have to win 3-0
Report edy May 16, 2014 11:05 PM BST

over 5 0% chance.
Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:06 PM BST
Nadal is clearly very vulnerable. I honestly think he has no chance this week. He has to be knackered by now.

Come Roland Garros it depends whether you think he can play himself into form. Something he's done in the past, but I am not sure his form has ever been at this low point on clay going in.

Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:09 PM BST
Which he probably will be.
Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:09 PM BST
Because all this tennis has to catch up with Nadal eventually. He's played 8 hours 45 minutes in 3 days.
Report grrrrrowl May 16, 2014 11:09 PM BST
I certainly couldn't back Rafa at 2.x for the French, he'll likely go above that in one of his matches alone
Report aaronh May 16, 2014 11:10 PM BST
maybe in the final
Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:10 PM BST
The thing is depending on the draw, Nadal can easily get a draw at the French where there's no real threat to him until the final.

He's probably likely to get a draw with no real threat to him until the semi's unless he gets a bad draw.
Report aaronh May 16, 2014 11:11 PM BST
who do you consider a threat n88?
Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:12 PM BST
I think Nadal has spent a lot more than physical energy though, he's spent a lot of emotional energy because he's been coming from behind in these matches, and fighting himself. He was also doing this last week (though in quicker matches). I feel he might hit the wall tomorrow, and tbh just think he has no chance of winning Rome unless Djokovic loses tomorrow.
Report aaronh May 16, 2014 11:12 PM BST
will Novak be fave in a final?
Report grrrrrowl May 16, 2014 11:13 PM BST
no one's gonna be fave vs Nadal on clay unless he has an obvious public knowledge injury
Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:13 PM BST
I can kind of see a flat final where Nadal gets demolished by Djokovic like 6-1, 6-2 and then he will probably drift huge for the French (though debatable whether this would be the correct thing).

Depends. Reality is I would still be shocked if anyone non-Djokovic beat him.

Most the names you've already mentioned. It depends if you really think Nishikori can just totally demolish him, which maybe possible if Nadal turns up playing like this. Nadal has a great habit at majors though of dragging these matches long.

You could even argue Nadal might want to be avoiding Ferrer right now. Because there you have someone who Nadal can't just rely on wearing him down.

Report n88uk May 16, 2014 11:19 PM BST
Of those #5-#8 seeds Ferrer might actually be the worst for Nadal right now strange as that is.

Berdych, Murray, Raonic. Hard to imagine any of them beating him at Roland Garros.

Wawrinka and Dimitrov can both beat Nadal, both have improved 10 fold over the last year and are hungrier for it.

Murray will have no chance, Nadal's game for Berdych is horrible and he would lose in straights.

Dolgopolov has been impressive in a  lot of matches this year but just can't see him beating him in 5.

An outside bet might be for both Verdasco or Tsonga, at their very very best.

fancy murray all day long to beat anyone but nadal. djokovic is a pretty moderate grass court player his annus mirablilis of 2011 aside and can't have fed winning another GS at nearly 33
