The latest forum competition, this time it’s for the US (Tennis) OPEN: PLEASE ENTER ON THIS THREAD
This is how it works:
There are 12 sections You have to pick 1 player, Score, round, or number (depending on which section) for each one. The scores for each selection are listed below.
Just put the letters A to L with your choice for each - preferably going downwards, followed by a tie-break answer.
There is a prize, which Betfair have kindly donated – a total of £100 in Sportsbook bets.
This will be broken down into 3 prizes, £50, £30 and £20, for the top 3 competition finishers.
In the event of ties, a tiebreak will come into effect so there should be an absolute winner (and 2nd & 3rd).

A. What round will Juan Martin Del Potro reach – or Will he win?
In his 6 appearances at the US Open, he’s reached R1, R3 twice, QF twice and Won.
Choose from R1, R2, R3, R4, QF, SF, F, Win.
2 points for being right.
B. How many of the top 16 Mens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
C. How many of the top 16 Womens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
D. What will the score be in the 2nd set of the 1st round match between Andy Murray and Michael Llodra. Put Murray’s score 1st
So a score from 0-6 through to 6-0 (not forgetting 7-6 or 6-7) with the 1st number being the number of games scored by Murray in the 2nd set of this match
3 points if correct, 1 point if 1 out.
E. Will previous winners win the Tournaments (Men’s singles, Womens singles, both or Neither

2 points if correct
F. How many Games will be played in the Womens final – in total?
Choose from: 12 to 39 The last 4 finals have provided 28, 17, 15 and 21 games
4 points if correct, 2 points if wrong by 1 and 1 point if wrong by 2
G. How many FRENCHMEN will get to the last 8 of the Mens singles:
There are 12 French players in the main draw currently (none in the 6th 8th yet – If you get what I mean) plus 4 more in the final round of qualifying as I type.
3 points for being right

H. How many of the 32 Mens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
I. How many of the 32 Womens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
J. How many of the 14 players whose surname begins with a B will still be in the mens singles in Round 3?
This is the full list, I don’t think there are any qualifiers beginning with a B who can still be added: Berankis, Becker, Bogmolov, Baker, Blake, Baghdatis, Brands, Benneteau, Berdych, Bedene, de Bakker (claimed as a B, by me), Batista-Agul, Bellucci, Berlocq.
2 matches in Round 1 are ‘all B’ affairs and 2 more of them, if successful, would meet in Round 2.

K. Which of these 10 players will progress furthest in the mens singles? Nishikori, Haas, Isner, Janowicz, Almagro, Fognini, Anderson, Tipsarevic, Robredo, Seppi
3 points for being right.
L. Which of these 10 players will progress furthest in the womens singles? Stosur, Flipkens, Ivanovic, Kirilenko, Stephens, Lisicki, Cibulkova, Suarez-Navarro, Cirstea, Petrova
3 points for being right
TIEBREAK :
How many Aces will there be in the Mens final? Previous finals have yielded 12, 11 and 9.

E&OE – Any ties in any sections, points shared; (eg, if the score is 2 points for 3rd, 1 point for 4th, and there's a tie for 3rd, both will score 1.5)
If I’ve made any glaring errors, please let me know, and if they can be rectified or sorted, I’ll do my best to sort it.
The organiser's (that's me) decision is final. I'll try to update scores and standings at the end of each Section’s completion.

I have done them for Golf, Darts and Snooker though. Next will probably be the Darts again - around Christmas. |
