If you want stats, just send me a private message, I'll get them for you for free from my database if I can.

Everyone here knows you have your own database. Stop blabbing about it ffs!!  I just want to know what do they offer for a premium user Grin

mnbfrankel, I don't really know all that much about TI, but if you like a stat here and there you can also pay a visit to http://www.tennisabstract.com/

Thanks edy, honestly I have seen too many of these websites, but Tennis insights is extremely popular amongst tennis punters and I always wondered why and wanted to know what do they offer differently from others before subscribing for a package there  Plain

I am interested in set stats, i.e. % of career wins coming from a set behind or season % of 3 sets matches.
Do they have stats like that? After a quick glance, I couldn't find any.
BTW any service with stats like that?
Of course there is "On Court" (which I recommend, very useful tool) but for stats it's not very practical, too many menus to browse.

I second your point there mate. There are too much of information and too many menus obviously. Lot of statistics avaialable for punters is a good thing but is making things harder for the news users like us. Take notes Tennis Insight owner, if you are seeing this SillySilly

You can find that on the website I linked to earlier, tennisabstract. E.g for career stats (all levels, surfaces etc) you first select the player, click on time span, then career. Also click on results in the left menu and then lost first set.

Don't think it can show you % of 3 setters easily, but you can select 3 setters and just do the quick maths manually. Just have a look yourself, there are lots of options.

Thanks Aaronh & edy, I'll check that site later. On alternative, there is the huge database of "On Court" in Access format but for quick reading / data mining it would require some DB management skills.

I won't bother offering again.

@SOA, you collected those from TI? You have anything that TI don't offer? In that case I wouldn't mind paying you either Cool

what does TI premium offer over and above what is freely available on the web, anyone?
I'd be interested in live winner/UE stats, which are only available for slams currently or if you have tennistv (at the end of each set). Winner/UE is one of the most important live stats imo, as it tells you how many points a player is giving to the other player. It's also great for comparing 2 players' previous round performances in a tourney.
I don't attach too much weight to historic stats older than 6-12 months old

SoA in fairness he is not looking for stats for one match, he is not going to msg you before every match (and you are not going to reply either)

GrinGrin Mate, if SoA can tell me what he offer differently from TI, I can pay him more than what TI is asking for!!

i'm pretty sure SorA's stats are not match statistics

tennis is living in a stats dark ages

atp/wta scoreboards without winners is shocking really

slam scoreboards are great but not user friendly (imo)

yeah aaron, that info is recorded by the umpire on his scorekeeper, yet not made available (even on the delayed scoreboard)

By:

they post it at the end of a lot of matches on tv, so is available in some form
By:

When: 15 Aug 13 20:08
the ibm scoreboard is becoming increasingly shíte, they seem to think it is better to gather even more historic data to determine 'keys to the match' etc, makes it more of a resource hogger to use with every slam

yeah but you'd have to write it down, it's not made available after the matches

can't watch every match
By:

When: 15 Aug 13 20:10
If the match is televised, a screenshot of the matchstats will often be posted in the match threads. At least on tennisforum, possibly on menstennisforums as well.

yeah but I am not sure how viable it is, it's only somebody's opinion of what a winner is, you see the stats at the end of sets etc and it says 18 winners to player A and you wonder if you have been watching the same matchCrazy

Yep, there can't be uniformity in UEs/W counts. In some match reports W are just aces and (sometimes) winning serves.
On a side note, who update the scores point by point? It is the umpire with his tablet - like I guess - or they have a "scoreboard boy" on each court?

well we can argue about what is a winner/ue all day. but when the stats are kept but not provided on the scoreboard was my issue

score updates are done through the tablet, pda, smartphone, whatever of the umpire.

aces and dfs are usually counted as winners/UEs. I'd rather have SOMEONE/ANYONE's opinion on what the count was

They let Gerry Armstrong do score updates? Shocked

By:

When: 15 Aug 13 21:27
What's wrong with Gerry Armstrong? Apart from messing up big time in consecutive matches in Hamburg one year, I've not seen him make major errors. He's mostly active as supervisor though it seems. Doesn't umpire nearly as much as the big names.

Well there was the incident last week in the Nadal vs Djoko match where he said the wrong score at a crucial moment and also said "Nadal is out of challenges" just after Nadal made a successful one.

Srichaphan or Ancic?
When: 15 Aug 13 21:35
There is a site that edy posted which has a lot of stats, although mainly for ATP. Try that instead, should be more useful than tennisinsight, which seems to have a very unusual method of rating a player's chances of winning matches.
