This lad has serious talent to destroy murray next year, 33/1 massive!! The guy just needs to sort his head out, get a new coach, and go to the net more.

He's absolute legit this guy. Don't know about destroying Murray (come on now ffs) but he'll be a force in a few years. Multiple slam winner for sure.

I like Jerzy. He is thoroughly entertaining unlike a certain scot.

500/1 is massive .... 33/1 is for mugs

I thought it was funny how he kept going on about the roof! Especially when he started doing the actions on court with his fingers!

buttocks like titanium spacehoppers

Agreed! In 12 months he should be better than now and could be a lot shorter by then. The same should apply with Raonic at 125/1

If Jerzy wins at 33/1 and you back 500/1 loser Steve then you are the mug
Report aaronh July 7, 2013 10:20 PM BST
Yurek is great but 33/1 is far too short for me

maybe in 2015 or 2016 Wink

Too raw for 2014, based on his performance this year he should be a 9/1 shot
Report BLUEPOISON July 7, 2013 10:22 PM BST
I meant to say, you do not think he will mature into a serious contender until 2015?
Report aston July 7, 2013 10:27 PM BST
I believe he was outside the top 200 at the start of 2012, top 20 end of 2012, Wimbledon semi finalist July 2013. With that rate of improvement he could overtake Federer in 12 months and in 24 months be challenging Murray/Djokovic for number 1!
Report aaronh July 7, 2013 10:28 PM BST
yeah pretty much. He didn't show it here but has the odd match where he is capable of stinking it up throughout the year. Extremely talented shot maker but the shot selection is at times questionable. With experience and the rate at which he is improving, I think he should get there eventually

Well I will watch his progress with interest. And we will see in a years time..

i think the price is too short, a massive overreaction. he has the ability definitely. But even if you think it's value, why would you want you money tied up for a year. they should be offering you a better price in return for that.
Report aaronh July 7, 2013 10:36 PM BST
what is good with him, he doesn't appear afraid of the occasion

it's hard to imagine other players making such a fuss over the roof like he did with Muzz in SF. that said the serve was a bit off, lot of DF's
Report Marcce July 7, 2013 11:01 PM BST
I wouldn't be surprised if he plateaued to be honest.

The temptation is to get a bit carried away about big servers like that. It's possible for a player to shoot through the ranks against lower ranked players who can't cope with the serve but far harder to progress coming up regularly against players able to deal with it. The likes of Cilic and Raonic have hit that same problem.

In many ways it's far better to come through the ranks without a massive serve to fall back on because it means players have a more rounded game. The likes of Nadal, Murray and Djokovic all made major improvements to serve as they developed for example.
