I don't mean to be rude but there's multiple amounts matched on ATP games compared to WTA. Some WTA matches in early rounds have next to nothing on them.

There is going to be some variance here and there but look at two matches currently in-play both about 4-4 in first set

Kohlschreiber v Vessely 450k match odds 4k set betting
Cornet v Koehler 330k match odds 7k set betting

Not really all that different, and Kohlschreiber is a much bigger name than Cornet. I can find a bunch of matches featuring ATP mugs like Kubot where only 1k has been matched on the set betting. Sure, that's more than the few hundred that has been matched on most of the less notable WTA matches, but a few hundred versus 1-2k  in most cases isn't that much difference. It's still insignificant volume. The set betting money usually turns up in play, and set betting rarely has very much volume traded in these lesser matches.

It's true what he says to a degree, most of the obscure WTA matches have a few hundred on set betting right now whereas the ATP one have 1-2k. But that's not a lot of total volume, and not a lot of difference when you think about the total volume of money that is swishing around on these matches in the match odds.

You can say that set betting is not very liquid, and it does appear to be slightly more liquid in the men's than the women's, but on the whole it's like saying that one mouse is bigger than another mouse. It's still a mouse. The real problem is that there's not a lot of interest in the set betting full stop (in the less notable matches).

Kubot v Teixeira had a little over 1k pre-off on set betting, Baltacha v Erakovic had £48.

Now, with the men's match in the second set but the women's still fairly early in the first, they've pretty much got the same amount matched.

Another scenario supporting the idea that no-one lumps on set betting in mugfests pre-match.

The scoreline makes it look like she was unstoppable, as Inverdale likes to make out, but ITV didn't show it, and Serena wasn't actually that good today. Tennisforum would go into complete meltdown if this happened. I wish Kuznetsova matches had been streamed to get an idea how she is playing. She is the sort of player who can give Serena problems, and isn't someone who will just necessarily fold like a cheap tent. Of course she is nowhere near guaranteed to win her next match either.

Yes that is the thing, but she is someone who at least has it in them to stand up to Serena. You don't really know how good someone is until they are actually tested. Lets get Serena to 3-3 at least, see how she reacts. There is a chance Serena just steam trains to the title, but history suggests it is unlikely. If I was an outrights trading man though I would have taken a Sharapova/Azarenka combination. This was available at 3/1 a couple of days ago (still 2.9/1 now). They wouldn't be much longer than that if at all vs Serena in the final. If Serena somehow loses before the final you are on a complete goldmine, and it's hard to envision a different finalist from the bottom half.
