Having just seen Tipsarevic appear give up completely midway through the second set against Pella, it got me thinking about the tour's worst players mentally e.g. those that give up easily or get angry at themselves and start making unforced errors. Who would you say is the worst for this? Thinking mainly top 60 players..For me has to be Melzer or Verdasco.
Cilic is a bit of a choker, the rest I don't think so though, just mugs
Gulbis I don't think is mentally weak if we're going by the choker definition, just hot headed/unstable

how does anyone know if someone is either chocking or tanking, chocking is having no bottle when the going gets touch, and imo thoe mentioned have bottled it one two many times,

Melzer for the blokes and women it has to be the queen herself Mad Vera, closely followed by Kerber who makes it into my list solely because Aggy made her cry in a game and then she just quit and gave up in the 2nd set

depends on the opponent for some players eg ferrer, almagro against nadal (or any of the top 4 really). They can play better for 2.5 sets and then bottle it every time - eg almagro v ferrer in the AO this year. Also shara v serena.
You can't say any higher ranked player losing this week is mentally weak. mentally smart more like, particularly when rain delays make 2 matches a day more likely. Worst way to prepare for a slam so tanking is smart. Mugro and wawa are mentally weak in that they nearly always allow their opponent back into the match after going ahead. Melzer too. Kvitova would be up with the top 3 women if she wasn't so mentally weak.

see with Almagro, he is more than good enough to compete with the top players, and especially Ferrer.
he destroyed him for 2 and 1/2 sets as you say, then was embarrassing choking a break lead 2(3?) times
isn't your average mug zoning, then failing to serve it out when it matters

I agree with those who named Almagro but would say this is choking when there is pressure on him rather than choking from a winning position. We all know Berdych is also a choker, able to lose from a clear lead and then over some moment that disturbs him mentally (close call, moving ad banners, people walking in the crowd, etc.) he loses the plot and loses the match as a result.

i guess they're all mental giants comparing to Sam Querrey
he proved this today one more time - not a single bp for Vaselin in first 2 sets, 5-6 holds to 0 till last set and then he lost tb and lost final set 6-1
his recent loss to Gulbis when he was leading in final set 5-1 or 5-2 - epic choke. then he was leading in final set tie break but made 2 DFs in a row.
epic, epic choker SAM

It's the usual suspects of course, and for me, I'd agree with a few of you and say Nicolas Almagro wins by a clear head. Not just in Slams either. His defeat to Juergen Melzer on clay last year (was it Rome?, I forget)for anyone who also saw it was pure joy. His mental disintegration was hilarious. No financial interest in that match for me, simply I find Almagro an extremely difficult person to like. I'm sure I'm not alone.
