i understand that in rafa matches there were also other mugs with good or even superb backhands like mugro who is mugro and no weapon can help him, paire who got to the tb but lost as he usually does , youzny berlmug again or kohly but it just happend rafa dominated them as he use to

he won't tank, points could be crucial for overtaking Ferrer to be seeded #4 in RG

it may appear that stanley didnt played best match against berdy trough all the course of it but he showed more than only tennis skills, something he usually lacked in his career which is mental strength, yeah German genes, edy will say and i may agree with him. he is mature player now and has not much weakness in his game, downwards from under his ears level. he showed it not only yesterday against player in form like berdy, but also against two other one rising star of atp dimi dimitrov and old fox tsonga who wawa had very negative h2h on hes best surface(wawas) and not the best of tsongas. thats telling, he may be knackered little bit but i said before he is very strong man (especially in his inner core edy will approve again)

If only all opening fred's with pre-game analisys were like this, very thourough and weighing and evaluating both sides. The difficult part is imo to ignore the pros of the oposing part to our favorite player (or pick) and/or over infatuate our picked player strengths when doing pre-match analisys.
Agree with most of it and when was about to disagree - about the nadal's topspin forehand not being enough to handle the fast single handed backhand (usually with wide angles) from waw - you made the point that it can actually work to favour nadal. What I mean and think is that it's crucial in order to one of the guys get advantage over the other on rallies is who gets to control it first, and on that nadal's side (experience, freshness, speed) has to be favoured. What i didn't like about nadal during this torn was he strugling on serve, mainly against ferru (as 'bad' as 2011? cause in 2012 before his intermission i felt that he was puting a betert effort on it?); and also his last resort slicing backhand (got 2 brilliant winners one against ferru and another against Andujar but it won't cover the other many UE or lost rallies hencefoward that shot). What about motivation and drive? Nadal will want the points more - lost 500 to Djoker in MC and maybe will do him good for RG seedings (too late me thinks, though); while waw might have just had a good enough run, reaching top ten and facing a nemesis, to whom no one, not even him, will come as shock. Serve wise Stan has the weapon, but requires much concentration and throughout the match he will be prone to just not keep it up... My pick Nadal, hoping for better odds in play or even for Stan to get first set. |

no no i didnt mean his forehand cant handle backhands but some of those like novaks double hander best in the game, but also one handers which creating wider angle than dbl can sustain rafas forehand as it is not working like used to. i have seen rafa live few times and his wrist is just i never seen before in my life, you just cant see the movement of the racquet sometimes , really and i saw him form like second row behind, for me atm his forehand is not that accurate and as consistent in closeing in to the line as it was before and has bit les whip in it, just my impression im sure hes working on it most. point is those bachands arent that much pushed with his forehand to open court

Magnus Norman's handwriting is all over Wawa this season.
And you just have to love the guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PWCG1LXT3c While the video is quite funny, it also says a lot about Wawa's mental state at the pinnacle of the match. |

Years ago there were posters here who took the time to open threads with in depth analysis, but if they were even slightly wrong they were ridiculed by the children on here and did'nt bother again.
Very good effort with the opening post of this thread ;[p, good luck with your bets. I think Wawrinka's only chance is to catch Nadal on an off day (pretty rare in finals, but it does happen) and to play to the best of his ability. Thought Nadal would be shorter than 1.18 given that Wawrinka has had two roller coaster rides in his last matches and emotionally (mentally) he may struggle. |

good effort on the initial analysis ;[p, it was an interesting read...i agree with nearly everything you've said. I would like to point out that indeed it did take 3 sets in the first clay tournaments vs alund zeballos and berlocq, however the physical state he was in at the time is nowhere near as good as the physical state he is in now and so therefore i don't think it's fair to justify a 3 setter based on those 3 matches. on the other hand, i very much agree with wawa's very good starts and competitiveness this tournament so far, IMO being the real catalyst for getting to the final...and for this reason i do think WAWA will get the better start, 1.16 on nadal (considering how he's playing combined with the excellent starts wawa makes in his matches) is absurd... i think a nadal lay to start off with followed up with a back when odds rise to around 1.7X - 2. If wawa takes the first set...price should be around 1.8X at which point i will back nadal.
Good luck all |

i realllly hope wawa takes 1st set...excellent odds on nadal to take it...if he takes the 2nd...the tourny is his....wawa will be knackered (having played 9 matches of the last 10 days)

nadal's knee has heavier tapping around it than in MC, hasn't it

Probably some new superstition. Every time he wins a match, he wraps the tape around his knee one more time.
