Word of early warning: Chardy >>>>>> DGT

The price is ridiculously short, if Chardy doesn't lose his nerve (and I think he probably won't) he can take Nadal in current form and it wouldn't surprise anybody.

Hypocrite? Explain LOGICALLY how you came to that.

What did I do? I pointed out that he is spouting incredible garbage (in at least 2 spots as far as I can immediately recall).
If you can't spot it yourself then it is your problem and not mine. Re-read his posts and come back to me.

Also there is a purpose behind that thread and it is obvious from the 1st post BTW.

Unargumented picks mean nothing, anybody can be on a short term heater. If you need someone to worship because Ito won a match, go ahead.

I have seen many people come and go with such tipping threads and exactly zero who showed any staying power.

Lets see in a few months where that thread is and what is the P/L (although frankly anything less than 1 year is statistically insignificant).

Last year I had 23 correct picks in a row BTW and I didn't proclaim myself to be the best ever etc.

marin you have to admit saying 1.3 to 1.5 was probably a mistake, you don't have to be a tennis expert even to realise that's not right, you may have had a case if it were a first round match after his 8 month lay off and if people were overly sceptical, but he was clearly moving quite well beforehand

Yeah my 1st reply to you also got deleted by accident since I am doing other stuff in parallel and I misclicked Plain

Here is the gist of it:

- I clearly said in the opening post "if Chardy doesn't lose his nerve (and I think he probably won't)" and that part was obviously wrong. Nobody can play vs. a top player scared, it just doesn't work. Chardy looked like he is about to **** himself from the get go so yes that part was wrong. I still didn't see anything close to the top form Nadal yesterday and there are quite a few good clay court players who would deserve 1.5 against him in that shape.

- The point in this thread was never to discuss anything - I am the only one who used actual argumentation for my opinions, since that is usually the point of forums in general and I am in the habit of approaching things this way. I really see little point in wasting my time posting here if I can't get anything from it.

- Culture of this forum was never conductive to argumented discussions, it did improve a bit from 90% ramping few years back to something a bit calmer but prevalent is still trolling, spamming, scamming and rude language. I am not willing to communicate in this manner and the only way I can isolate myself from these things is to simply block people who are unable to communicate in the way I find preferable.

Now, it is true that I also kind of joined the culture here in the last year (since it was made clear to me that BF does not want a clean forum) but still there are criteria I observe and both new inductees of my BL knew what they were. I tolerated them both for quite some time because sometimes (rarely) they do post something worthwhile but now I have decided that that is not justification to tolerate them anymore.

If your only reply to someone's post is emoticons, that is mocking and is a kind of aggression.
If you then ask a question for the sole purpose to mock the answer without any argumentation, that is also a form of aggression.

you might do well to watch some of the late christopher hitchens videos on youtube.

he frequently finds himself having to put forward his strongly held beliefs in the face of stubborn resistance and stupidity, but always did so with eloquence, elegance, and most importantly humour, occasional humility and charm.

something his partner in crime, Richard Dawkins, failed and continues to fail miserably at.

as troy parker and matt stone observed so well

"Dawkins knew that logic and reason were the way of the future. But it wasn't until he met his beautiful wife that he learned using logic and reason isn't enough. You have to be a dick to everyone who doesn't think like you."
