just to complete the forum jinx, I think Woz is a good price too (even though Kuz beat her a 2 weeks ago)

Svety for me. think she'll win the first and third sets. Both had a bad year last year but didn't meet. I think Kuznetsova has improved since they met pre-2012 and caro has gone the other way. Kuz lost 6 3 set matches in 2012 and won the first set in all 6 of them. She didn't have the fitness for 3 sets last year. This year she has won all 5 of her 3 set matches, including beating Wozi 2 weeks ago in Sydney. She looks fit and strong this time.

When they met in Sydney, they both served well with relatively few breaks/BPs. I think they will trade breaks more often this time tho. Kuz hits more errors but more winners and that will have to keep the winner count up today, so I'll be keeping an eye on that. But I'd be surprised if it doesn't go to 3.

Hey Kuz beat her fair and square recently, Kuz may look a bit bigger in the girth but she seems to have been playing well lately.

The recent encounter was played in ridiculous heat, though. Woz took six games in a row in the second set I think, but then they had to have a heat break and Woz came out flat and Kuz rejuvenated. Without the heat rule that match could have finished 2-1 Woz.

This is pretty finely balanced, more like 1.9 Woz 2.1 Kuz would probably be justified imo

Wouldnt take too much notice of Sydney match, this is Melbourne. For me it depends of Wozzy serve cos Kuz is gonna get broken.........

Wozi has won their 2 Grand Slam encounters, think it will go 3 50-50 really

Sounds persuasive but the stats are incorrect.
Kuzz lost to Kiki Bertens in Auckland in a 3 setter 6-7 (7) 6-2 7-5.
The fact that she had to play 3 sets with Foretz Gacon or Cepelova does not speak about her strength.
I think Woz should make it this time but expect both of them trade at much better prices so a lay would be preferred as starting position if I was trigger happy.

But Woz serve is awful, and has been for a long long time. Why are we to believe today will be any different. I think Kuznetsova will take this. Wozniacki hasn't impressed me one bit here despite getting a couple of wins. Should have lost to Sabine. Leaked way too many errors vs Tsurenko.

kuz's best is far too much for woz.

no guarantee she'll bring it though and even if she does it may not hang around long enough for her to win the match.

Also did Wozniacki really move like 30 ticks for a hold game 1 or did I dream that?

This place has the worst line judges in the world.

5 points in and they've already made a stupid call

You did dream it. She moved from 1.85 to 1.64 before the off. And then went in 20 ticks for the hold, a further 6 for the first point against Kuz serve.

I wouldn't read into the Bertens match too much. It was Kuznetsova's first match since around French Open or Wimbledon I think. The key for me here is Kuznetsova knows how to play Wozniacki. Wozniacki has long lost that mental toughness from those tough 3 sets wins over her years ago.

Wozniacki must be one of the worst players for stopping the point mid-point and challenging and then being wrong. I don't know why she always does it.

one very important thing to notice there, and radwanska has exactly the same problem.

woz has no read on kuz's forehand. makes a very big difference for these counterpunchers.

I would generalise that to every player, to be honest. I'm astonished at the percentage of times that players are incorrect when they do that.

30 minutes petr. this has got ugly written all over it, despite how much i enjoy watching kuz combobulate counter punchers.

last year's french open match against radwanska was awesome.

Er it depends on the player. I tend to think most the top players are good when they stop mid-rally (exclude times when they just scrape the ball back but for all intentions are about to lose the point). But Wozniacki seems to do it all the time mid-rally and rarely be correct. Really

Rad has one key advantage over Woz though. She is able to keep a consistent depth from both sides. Most of Woz's rally balls from her forehand side just say hit me, making it easy to dictate against her.
