seems a bit short considering the report from yesterday.
13:43 L. Davis filled the final spot in the main draw after she overcame Nina Bratchikova in three sets 2-6 6-4 6-1. Bratchikova took out the first set comfortably and looked to be in control of the match against an injured Davis. But with a heavily strapped left thigh and a visible limp, Davis battled on grinding out a tough second set to level at one set apiece. With constant encouragement from her coach on the sidelines Davis’ hard work in the second paid off as she cruised to a third set victory 6-1. Bratchikova didn’t go home empty handed and was later awarded entry into the tournament as Lucky loser. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova withdrew from the event this morning due to a hip injury, freeing up a spot in the main draw for Bratchikova.
Watched this match, Bratchikova was destroying her in the first. Let Davis into it and then suffered a brain injury when it mattered in second and for rest of third.
Highly unimpressed by both of them in the end. The match looked to take a lot out of them physically.

Was the injury to Davis quite obvious? She did cruise the third set so I'm hesitant to get too involved. Though Brat might have completely eased off knowing she was in the main draw anyway.

Think the report exaggerates it. The video was bad so I couldn't really tell but there was an MTO I think and she was walking around a little awkwardly between points - but she then went on to take control of the match. Didn't seem to be affecting her actual play that much, but it was generally a fairly taxing match both mentally and physically. Both players were getting pretty tired and emotional and it was very hot so they will probably be a bit drained today.

Davis keeps going flat when she has the lead. It's not 'choking' but her level just doesn't stay the same. She's a very determined chaser/fighter but not a great frontrunner it seems; that emerged with Bobusic too iirc.

I started as a Sloane backer and made some green but layed her quite heavily at 1.2 very early in second and kept it until the end so lost in the end but should have greened out earlier. Was gutted that at the time I actually wanted to green nothing was getting matched anywhere near the proper price.
