That would be even better. Say 1.60 x 2.40 or anything like that. I think the Czechs will win 3-0 or 3-1 because this is a faster court, Granollers/Lopez play most of the game from the baseline and that should be a dream for our boys. Berdych's serve + Stepanek's volleys are more than Lopez's slow serve and the Spaniards' defensive play. But we'll see. Prognosis is one thing, reality another.

Berdych says "I am prepared to win the two points for my country even if they should have to take me away on a stretcher on Sunday". So hard to tell if he'll be knackered. Meanwhile, it would be nice for Betfair to open a market for the right doubles as it's already been determined.

as you say, it's not so much step's serve that's the problem, it's not having the quality at the net; you would expect berdych's serve to be rock solid though with sexyneck guarding the net.
however as a tonic to that concern, i'd suggest that berdych will absolutely love the heavy topspin groundies from lopez and be able to punish them instead of the difficulty they generate for the "professional" doubles players. |
