Report Patb November 11, 2012 11:36 PM GMT
sorry, missed this, what was the problem?
Report Kriskin November 12, 2012 12:08 AM GMT
Murray was getting booed by the fans for smashing his racket.  Throughout the match Federer had more support.

is this because Andy is from Scotland?

really disgusting stuff from home crowd.. or should I say english crowd?

I saw Murray vs Fed at the O2 a couple of years ago in the group stage and was surprised how pro Fed the crowd was.

Was back tonight and thought it might be different - a glorious homecoming maybe, but that certainly wasn't the case, and the crowd were again much more supportive of Fed.

I know Fed is very popular (and rightly so) but was still bizarre.

You guys serious?

It's London, immigration central, they're are probably more Swiss people living here than Scottish, and a lot of Asian Fed fans, bit pathetic but there you go.
Report Vasek November 12, 2012 1:19 PM GMT
Wasn't it because most people had a bet on Federer at such juicy odds? Laugh
Report jin_kazz November 12, 2012 1:34 PM GMT
so send these immigrants back to asia if they don't know who they should support in the country which give them money and roof for their families :)

I don't see the problem. Tennis is an individual sport. The players are representing themselves and not their countries. I was there cheering on Federer because he's my favourite player of all time. Against virtually any other player I'd be cheering on Murray. Didn't agree with the booing for Murray when he changed rackets but that was a very small minority. Other than that the crowd was fantastic and the atmosphere was great.

there is always an anti-Murray element in British, or should I say English, crowds (he only ever plays in England, not Scotland or Wales). He has had to put up with 'C'mon Tim' shouts for years at Wimbledon.

I am not surprised...just look at the history of the British Empire. Self explanatory from there. Scotts and English...like Serbs and Croats. Laugh

I went on Friday and Murray-Tsonga felt about 50-50 supportwise. Surprising amount of English accents shouting for Tsonga - I think it's partly because the Brits that go to tennis are a bit reserved and don't like to make too much noise.  I certainly made myself heard when Murray won points, particularly as there were some particularly arrogant German (possibly Swiss-German) fans right in front of me who thought it acceptable to cheer Murray double faults.

I f*cking hate being anywhere near Germans at sporting events.

Just noticed this thread. I agree with OP. A couple of times I'd presumed Murray/Fed had won a point because of the respective crowd reaction just to be wrong.
