it has been the week before for a while hasnt it, yet the big players don't usually tank.
this is still a big tournament, although it isnt the tour finals or a grandslam, maybe tipsy sees an opportunity to go as far as the final since many of the players are out (except tsonga and ferrer)
there is no way they would change it. The players who need the ranking points would then complain that there are not enough available for them to chase a finals place. And the tour would want it to be competitive until the final stages.

It is suppose to be the week before so that more players have a chance for qualify (big points here) and increase competition... but it backfired
if they didnt force the players to play these tournaments, then they wouldnt tank.
