Coincidentally, I'd say it's ever so slightly faster than last year because of the balls, but still not fast at all.

i vote slow tbh i would like to withdraw my vote, i watched only one match ,jj ,and cant say nothing, janovicz serve looks huge everywhere. tbh those cours look quite fast to me what i see now on mayer match Paris is the fastest hardcourt on tour by quite a margin, it is also the only HC tournament considered fast according to the ITF court pace ratings. It's court pace rating last tournament was 45, 45pts. and above is considered fast. The rest of the HC tournaments are medium to slow. In comparison the US Open surface plays between 37-40 I would rate the US Open series of tournaments, Cincinnati and Rogers Cup both very close to the speed at the US Open, the major difference is more related to using different tennis balls at these venues. The AO surface is rated between 34-38 , IW and Miami are just as slow as the AO. Shanghai is the slowest HC according to Federer. "Shanghai was brutally slow, Toronto was very slow and Miami and Indian Wells have been slowed drastically," says Federer. "Paris was fast. But that's okay. Otherwise, things can get boring." Roger Federer Here is the article which talks about the Paris masters as the fastest hardcourt, some comparison ratings, and Federer's Quote about the HC speeds. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/ten...ory?id=6150794 |

paris was slow last year as well.
it was fast in 2010 when llodra did so well, but the tournament director admitted deliberately slowing them down last year as an easier preparation for london. |

I just started another thread on this. I also think they are REALLY SLOW.
2010 was a different story, they were super quick, and Llodra made the semis.... |
