nadal is a great player superior to anybody when fully fit and in prime. but fed was always a master of elegance technique style and naturally gifted player ever, nearly like michael jordan to basketball word . saying that he should retire(regardles hes no1 and one of 4 slams champ) its just most dump thing u can ever hear , only true retards can have this kind of attitude. if you forgotten there is youtube with all the matches.

big bow for the guy who reached everything and still trying to amuse us with his play, regardles of money lack of injuries(phenomenon) etc stuff  guy is true role model for all of us and helping people to be better. even if he wolud slump to the darker corners of tennis word  only total mug and ignorant person could forget the past.simples.
i would love to see federer not retiring as long as he can be happy playing. he will alway s be the champ.

for me nadal despite less number of slam wins etc is the greatest player i ever seen, true sportsman who gives 120% on training etc and got the effects, everyone will say that.and that is sport all about, but federer is sublime sensation and mayber m0re effective more natural in sport where u have no chance if you not produced form the small kid. true talent

so sht fck up mug and chill out if you lost ur pennies.who cares

No-one's missed Nadal one bit since his latest rich seam of imaginary range of injuries 'occurred'. Least of all Pippa. I would imagine Pippa was mighty relieved she didn't have to suffer the ghastly sight of watching an adult male pick his ar$e, nose, hair etc for 4 hours in a first-round match at the US Open. Not least when she's got nibbles and a magnum of Dom Perignon cooling backstage.

BTW.... do we know how much Ratfilth was fined for that juvenile bump into his conqueror at Wimbers on the changeover, a cringeworthy act normally only seen in the PG Tips Infants Singles Desert Classic in Runcorn?  100 grand?  250 grand? Or was it maybe 2000 ranking points?

Yeah, going to have to see a match in London ;[P. I usually go to the Aus Open every year and have seen Rafa in a couple of finals now.

The first time I saw him live, I was blown away and I've seen Fed, Djoko, Murray, Berdy etc.
Gave me a new appreciation of how good he is, tv certainly doesn't do him justice.

He was spinning his raquet while running for shots inbetween points. Who has time to do that?

Hope he can get back for the Aus Open! Fed in his prime live is pretty amazing aswell, I have to say.

So Federer is older but why retire when you can still back it up with the highest achievement in tennis?

He can't be expected to play good at all tournaments in the consistent way of old but you can still expect him to make Nadal , Djokovic or Murray look STUPID on their day.So if he retires, i won't see that instinctive entertaining and unique way of beating different types of opponents when they are playing piss poor on that day or playing on a high level themselves.

My point is, that will happen , not as much but you will see it.And for me it's the best match to see from that point of view.Like watching Phil Taylor destroy an opponent whilst doing next level **** that looks amazing at the same time.

As long as Fed can still do that and win the most important tournaments, why retire?
Tennis without Federer is something I have now decided not to contemplate for a while.
Report sammybizzle October 14, 2012 2:36 AM BST
And wasn't Shanghai the place where he received death threats? Don't get me wrong , Murray made him look muggish today. You can't deny that. But does Federer really care about this tournament? Sure he wants no.1 and to keep hold of it, but realistically he probably knows he can't dominate that spot for very long, especially with his schedule that conserves energy for grandslams nowdays. He was just happy to have more weeks at no.1 than Sampras. He knows he is in world tour final, has achieved everything and he is an old man in tennis now.
So what do you expect?

These beat downs will happen too, if he carries on.Getting older means getting worse.Still it's that beauty he still displays in abundance that means we shouldn't talk about retirement yet.

federer is the best player of all time as he has won the most grand slams, djokovic is the best player at the moment, but not sure if he will win as many slams as federer, federer was so good he beat people so easily that they looked ordinary, it wasnt that they were not good, you can only beat what is in front of you

getting older it means getting better to some extend  ,there is no real line (age line) when physical abilities improvement start to decrease and  has greater impact on the game than learning and getting experience , its all subjective

im sure that federers goal was to remain no1 at the end of the year, and that is not much subjective ,i think it was the reality for all tennis fans junkies reporters and journalists and also for fed,so not getting to the final is surely big disappointment for him but well... thats how it goes in this individual sport ,still has a chance and surely hes not thionking about himself as an old man(this is ridiculous statement,as hes the one who push boundaries)
Happy

Federer is an absolute genius, pure and simple. I'm an ex top 30 UK player I've never seen anyone player the game better in its purest form.

He's not the physical specimen he was, but the compensatory timing and touch that he showed today, coupled with the champions mentality to overcome the 5 set Nadal stats and the break in the fifth, was nothing short of unreal.

With the run of slam defeats he's had, it takes something really special to maintain the commitment and belief to be a winner again.
