Couldn't find a towel above the head pic for Federer, but while googling I found another tidbit.  Remember when Jimmy Jump attacked Fed at French Open final in 2009? It just became clear to me what he was trying to do, end Roger's career by putting a piece of cloth above his head. Granted it was a flag and not a towel so it might not have worked, but the intent was clearly there.

Why do you recking they use the towel on their racquet hand? I've never seen a player lose the grip on his racquet immediately after using the towel. It must have some kind of grip-enhancing effect if you use it on your hands too.

Based on that video the major enhancement seems to be hand-eye coordination, which as we all know is the most important part in all of tennis. It's not so apparent from only watching the tennis players as we naturally assume they're good and talented at that anyway, but the way that ball boy catches it definitely improves coordination big time.

The trainer also put a towel on Radwanska's legs yesterday during her MTO in the first set. Went on to steam roll the next set out of the blue.

I think the kids are involved in it and are actively dosing. They have to be cautious and find a fine line. That kid in the Troicki match was definitely overdosing and hence in a state of mental panic.

If you don't dose at all however, because you know about the risks and you have at least one year of being a beautiful and wanted model ahead of you, you'll be sitting ducks for assaults by tennis players because your reactions are just too damn slow for the job.

At first glance you'd think that was just an accident, but it was clearly a side effect of them using towels (as well as machines) when drying the courts instead of using covers like they do at Wimbledon for instance, where something like this would never happen.

Do you guys not think that it is all a bit too coincidental that Serena released that EnduraCool PET not too long after the drug-tester/burglar/thief showed up at her house and forced Serena to lock herself into her panic room?

She must've been in the middle of testing different top-notch design PETs to choose the final product from and could of course not be caught while being on a PET cycle.

Personally I think it's a bit unnecessary to use PET's for court maintenance, but clearly the USTA don't agree with me. I understand that they want to have the best possible courts, but is it really worth it when it can lead to embarrassing situations like the one above?

I think we all remember the Sharapova-Petrova match at the US Open. Sharapova was a complete mess once the (supposed) PET effect from the previous rain delay had worn off around the start of the 2nd set. Then after PETs had been reapplied onto court early in the 3rd set she was all of a sudden refocused, full of energy and playing her absolute best again.

Or do you reckon Sharapova simply used PETs in the locker room during the delay?

I thought the PET's they used for the courts were simply for court maintenance, but now that you mention it there might be a correlation. After all it happened twice for Sharapova during the USO. And the market seemed to know exactly what was going on since the odds on Sharapova shortened both times.

That was Kvitova in my pic btw. Not sure how effective the PET's are for her with her asthma issues. Maybe she feels she has to overdose for there to be any effect and thinks it's worth the risks.

She had by far her best ever Australian Open and French Open results this year after apparently heavily increasing the dose of PETs.

This raises a few questions though:
Are these guys just fans who have realized the value of a used PET as a collectors item with the intention of putting it up on Ebay?
Or are they tennis dads seeing the potential in a PET used by Azarenka with the intention of using the towel on their sons/daughters and/or possibly having the towel analyzed in a lab in hope of creating their own version of the Azarenka PET?
Or are they just perverts unaware of the whole PET concept? (The fact they went to watch a Vesnina match supports this theory).
Or are they WADA personel in disguise looking for proof in order to put a stop to the whole PET business?
