Bandy defo  , although always thought Haas had the game to grab a slam
Report mafeking September 11, 2012 1:04 PM BST
had his chances and huge ones at that in between the sampras and fed eras. must kick himself every day for losing to roddick in 5 and then watching that choking contest between gaudio and coria at roland garros

look mecir is accepted in many circles, especially if you posted on global tennis forums, as the best non slam winner

Vitas is a good shout; but he beat John lloyd in five sets to win the 1977 Australian Open. I would add Kevin Curren and Mark Philippoussis.
Report tobermory September 11, 2012 3:49 PM BST
weren't they mostly just big serve, rather limited players?

Mecir was so talented, remember feeling sorry for Edberg when he was 0-2 to MM in 1988 Wimbledon Semi , seemed out of his depth..... Crazy

Pernfors was very good also, think he made one final
Report attitude adjuster September 11, 2012 3:50 PM BST
cheers spass

after i posted it dawned on me he might have won the us open

sorry vitas

you were the king of the 70s dancefloors though Happy

rios certainly has claims but a very poor grand slam record for someone of his ability counts against him. only once got past the quarter finals in his whole career
Report Dado7029 September 11, 2012 7:38 PM BST
Raonic is way too early to say......probable Nalbandian considering what he has done before

The likes of Tsonga, Berdych and Ferrer have to be up there.  Any other era then surely these three would have at least one slam.  Especially Tsonga who has gone very close in the past.

Gonzo also worthy of a mention. Still quite young so don't recall much before mid 90s.

Corretja up there too i think, but nalbandian for mine takes it out. could have been among the greats of the game and still deserves to be.
