but

Some smart-arse once said you can never truly say you’re a successful gambler until you cash in your chips for the last time.

Well, I’m cashing in those chips, I’m offski, got it, done it, earned the t-shirt & then some.

I was lucky enough to be around in the early days, the markets were looser, less brutal, and tbh, a license to print money, t’was bloody fantastic while it lasted….

Wow, what a journey & what a whole lot of fun we had on the way.

Sending people to all points on the globe, Australia, China, Japan, Russia etc etc……

3 weeks testing a courtsider whose reactions were brilliant, but who tried to board a flight to Paris without a passport.

More irritatingly, once installed in Paris, could not find court Susanne Lenglen after coming off Chatrier. But amazingly managed to buy an umbrella on the way!!

Getting a phone call from Jernau at 5:30 am asking for more cash because the prostitutes in hong kong were just so horny!

Watching The man Marcus ascend the Metro escalator with his bag held above his head, nearly decapitating every second person on his right. Leaving a trail of destruction not seen this side of Helmand.

Having a 45 min conversation with Gerard (GOM) while he thought he was talking to Jernau. FFS man how did you get that wrong? He lives in a different country ffs.

The oh so sad story of the Spanish brothers who went to the Newport, Rhode Island tourney, but who left before the last match one night. The scoreboard got it wrong & had the loser winning. Last guy there won about 300k. Then retired. Last seen in Buenos Aires during South American clay court swing with drop dead gorgeous girlfriend. When told about it, the next day, Spanish guy just started crying, Poor bugger.

300k on 1 match. Very clever, didn’t go all in on the winner but kept laying 1.1 on the loser. Bloody hell to pay next day on BF, but obviously the result stood.

Now if I was talking about cheats the words Labadze & Davydenko would come to mind, but let’s not go there……..

Good luck to all those still plying their trade out there, Gerard, Jim, Declan, Agassi, Swiss Alex, Swedish Alex, Troy & his boys, etc etc …

Did the Spanish brothers ever leave before the final match again?
