Curently 2 great pro's fighting it out on Court 11 at the US Open - Hewitt and Muller.

Many tournament wins and Davis Cup appearences between them, a great match between 2 very focused and talented individuals, probably 2 of the best their respective countries have ever produced.

Murrays price to beat either of them at the US Open this year? 1.05? Maybe 1.06?

He is that good, and he is ours, so phuckkin support him.

pointless logic
Report maggot August 31, 2012 9:11 PM BST
I support Murray all the way, but if you think that Hewitt is one of the best that has come out of oz, then you clearly know very little about the game.

One is 31 and the other is just the worst returner in the ATP, there are 10/15 other players who are "that good" according to your logic
Report OnlyOneKeirenFallon August 31, 2012 9:14 PM BST
Holly - the logic being that we seem to think that if out players are not winning Wimbledon and every week they are rubbish. There is a massive tour out there and we have an amazing talent to support and enjoy who is far better than anyone from such a small country actually has the right to be.

Maggot - wow, you sure of could name 2 better?

RL and then please don't start talking bout PC or PR

yeah the standard of whether someone is good on this forum is ludicrously high, murray has improved HUGELY these last 6 months or so.

Happy

OP is right in that Murray doesn't get enough credit from some, but logic was fairly crap.

also, I'm not sure if being the best player from Luxembourg is really all that impressive Laugh

How many slams has he won please?
Report OnlyOneKeirenFallon August 31, 2012 10:45 PM BST
Almost as if to support my opening post, a very good match and won by Hewitt. Sure I even heard a few hall of fame references from the comms as well!

Let's go Andy (Murray). But of course, get beat in the semi by one of the GOAT and you will again be slated as failure Confused

Love - thanks for vindicating my OP. the cheques in the post.

Just the one less than Hewitt, and reached as many Slam finals. Mind my comment was totally tongue in cheek.

this vehement, fanatical murray love from certain individuals on the forum is getting SO TIRESOME. Just because his passport is the same colour as mine doesnt mean i should worship the ground he walks on or give two sh1ts whether he ever wins anything. so all this nonsense about him being "ours" is just sad.

OnlyOneKeirenFallon - see if you cant pay your mortgage one month, go ask andy murray and see what he tells you. he doesnt care about you so why do you care so much about him? tennis isnt like rugby or football, players play for themselves and history remembers the players who won not the country they came from.

Watch Del Potro almost tearing up with pride at getting his Olympic medal for arrgentina and tell me these players are only playing for themselves.

As for Murray, his burning desire to relieve the country's Fred Perry hoodoo is definitely one of the obstacles that has affected his performance in slam finals/semis and that he has had to employ Lendl to help him work around
Report drwankenstein80 September 1, 2012 6:34 PM BST
olympics is an exception to the rule that comes round once every four years, and if what you say is true wouldnt Murray be better off WITHOUT our support as the pressure of it is too much for him?
