Two players who showed the best form in the final.
I think Haas wins it since:
1. He has been serving incredibly well
2. During rallies he played extremely smart and aggressive tennis, Dolgo is much more erratic and it is gonna cost him.
3. Experience counts, he has 13 titles (+Olympic silver), has been around a long time and has played Dolgo type players before.
4. We are now on 5 match underdog winning streak (all 3 matches in Washington yesterday + 2 Olympic matches), bookies have to get something right eventually

it is easy to go from excel to a database, save it as a .csv file and open as a database, or just copy it into a database.
yes, sometimes, but as with all stats they can go wrong.

where did you start? did you have previous experience of data entry/analysis or is it self-taught?
its not all entered manually, some from online, then added bits to it.
then from the database I do an index, which tells me the players and their numbers of matches from different match positions etc.
well I've laid Haas despite thinking he's too high because Dog is serving first
Nice database! If things ever go tits up trading wise, you could make a nice wage from selling and maintaining that!
I could but I would doubt the person buying it and think they would do something with it to make even more profit, so I probably wouldnt sell it.
such as putting it online for other people to use and charging for it.
It could be a program that your members have to log in to.
Therefore they have access to the database, but never actually have it.
I just added to it the other day total games in the match, and handicap.
so I can compare results to some of the peripheral markets on Betfair, not that there is ever much liquidity.
There are sites where you can post your job up for software writers to quote.
Shouldn't be a difficult job as all the data is already there, so all they need to do is to create a graphical user interface and set up secure server etc. Just remember me when it's up a running!

Dog struggling on Haas 2nd serve, Haas would have won 1st easy and holding easy if he wasn't DF'ing
Haas wins this, Dog could take 2nd if he's very fortunate, these guys seem to be ranked the wrong way around for me though.
I still think Dolgopolov will never get to the top of the game, nor win a Grand Slam, while he plays on talent and has not standard game for the tricky situations in matches.
I hope Dol gets some constancy to his game one day as then he will go far. More likely though he will waste his talent and always be a nearly man.
How many towels and shirts does Haas get through per match Srich? Or does your database not cover that?
You know that the Federers and Nadals, in tough situations, have particular shots to rely on. Dolgopolov seems not to have those.
It has 55 sets of data for each match though!
Dog is relying on winners, going for really risky shots. Haas will win eventually.
It is quite unusual that Haas is at half the odds he was at the start of the match.
but then when have the odds in Dolgopolov's matches ever done what they should?
Fav's over 1.50 will always be around 1.25 after winning first set, or 1.15-1.20 if 6-0 / 6-1. Dol would have been 1.50 had he won 1st set.
This was a tiebreak 1st set but in terms of play Haas is far better at the moment. Dog only saw break opportunity from UE's and DF's.
If this goes a 3rd, I hope they get it finished before the rain returns!!

No, just two good points from Dolgo. Market is clueless, Haas still 1.7 favourite for me.
Just fearful market as dol break to win set unexpected, just the normal rise.
Beginning to think my stream is behind. Dolgo lower odds at 30-0 than after holding.
Dog was lucky, was leading in games and a very strange turn of events lead to a break. 3rd set will be neck and neck for a while, Dog might get nervy again
Market is just laying server before game and backing during after some comfortable serves. Rookie market, must be low liquidity and little conviction. Dog so lucky again, Haas left a ball he could have put away.
1.2 on Dog is insulting though. Should only be 1.35 with a break this early in the set.
Although Haas is beginning to look no more stable than Dog and that was his major advantage
Unbelievable the odds people will push markets to when there is nothing else going on just to get their bet on.
-11p on Dog now, can't lay him anymore despite the ridiculous price. 1 break up.

strange match, Dog seemed inconsistent and nervy, when he broke in the first set it screwed my trade. Now Haas seems to be b1tching about everything and really tired

Well, I really did not see this match being determined by Haas' consistency and mental state falling below Dolgopolov's.
