It's not unique. He was injured, retired and therefore since the first set was completed, he lost the match for the purpose of match odds betting.

It´s the first i have cleaned up significantly on a retirement..
and i am still (and have always been) against betfair´s retirement rule.

my finger was itching to lay fish at those odds after greening out my initial lay. But i thought it was touch too high to lay at that price..now i feel like a mug for not taking it.

I think in tennis they should have a retirement no bet market as you cant get a draw.

my lay for greening out and big green on Müller was ready at 1.06... never got matched... only 1.07... now Im feckin deep red instead of a huge win...

Maz. That was something that popped into my mind if they do abandon their retirement rule. Something very similar to the tie market in cricket.

I have said this many times, but everyone argues against it.

I've lost a lot of money on MTOs or retirements. But I still think Betfair's rule is correct. Retiring is part of the result. I'd even argue that it shouldn't even have to go one set but maybe there are reasons for the one set rule.

I came within a bee's ****, of being matched at 2's in the 1st set ... whew!

@darlo, i am still against the retirement rule because it´s mainly the illegal courtsiders/press boys at such events that profit from it and it puts your whole stake in danger all the time.

SoA. Except that they lose all the betting on the match market. You could be talking £20m+ on some matches and for the sake of £10,000 if that every time on the completed match market. I've often taken out small insurance on cricket matches when I don't need to. Mind, in tennis you can't see a retirement coming so more likely to buy insurance.

Dionio. I understand that. That's kind of why I've lost money - people ahead of me. But you know the risk if you have money in the market. Especially in this case when he'd just come acropper. Mind the retirement did surprise me.

People were still backing Fish for two minutes or more RB. Not at juicy odds, but still backing him even as low as 50 and 100.

As a bystander, my sincere condolences to all who had $ on Fish. This is really an unfortunate situation.

Perhaps. Though once they've spent say three hours trading a match and see that all bets are void it might put them off. It certainly has me at times with the cricket.
