What's the verdict here guys? Lay on Vinci?

• Niculescu is ranked #31 in the world (close to her best ever ranking #28). She is 24 years old and 1.68 meters tall.
I have seen her play, and she has a lot of talent and can play really aggressive and accurately. But she can also be a bit mentally weak. Niculescu has not really been playing so well the last tournaments, losing in first or second rounds. Perhaps clay is not her favourite surface (but the current tournament in Hertogenbosch is on grass which may suit her better). - • Vinci seems to be a bit better, ranked #23 (not so far from her best ever ranking #18). She is however older (29 y.o.) and shorter (1.63 m) than Niculescu. Vinci has done a litter better than Niculescu in recent tournaments reaching third or forth rounds in some, but also losing in the first rounds in some tournaments. - In the first round of Hertogenbosch, Niculescu beat #61 Zahlavova 7-6, 6-3. Vinci beat #88 Daniilidou 6-3, 7-5. - Conclusion: Vinci should be the favourite to win this match vs Niculescu. Current odds (1.35 for Vinci, 3.7 for Niculescu) maybe show a bit of too much preferation for Vinci as favourite than what she actually is. Maybe 1.5-1.6 would be more reasonable odds for Vinci. But she should win the match. |

Interestingly: B*tsson's odds for who will win the tournament shows Niculescu as the least likely player to win it (of the remaining 12 players). Vinci is the 6:th likeliest player to win the tournament according to these odds.

vinci is the biggest mug on tour at the moment, playing awful tennis. CAnt remember the last time she won a match against a semi decent opponent

i favour vinci cuz she's had a far better year but i wouldn't be surprised to see nicolescu win a set as she's getting adjusted to grass, yesterday was only her first game.. also both players have a slight tendency of playing 3-setters

Vinci won the doubles title of the French Open with world ranked #10 Errani the other week, which should give Vinci confidence. They beat #19 Kirilenko/#22 Petrova in the final.

First set to Vinci (6-3). It's almost too easy for Vinci with Niculescu doing a lot if easy errors.
