Stosur all day for me. Words cant sum up how truly awful Vika was against Domi but we should be thankful because thats given us a much better price on Sam.
The stats for Domi in the 2 sets were: 47% first serve. She gave up 13 break points. 5 double faults. 20 unforced errors and 28 winners... Is that going to be good enough against Sam? Not for me... |

stosur = kick serve around the slovaks head, heavy top spin forehand kicks around dominika's shoulders. Stosur should be 1.5 ish, but can certainly make life difficult for herself. but should find herself in alot of dom's service games. dom on the other hand won't have so many chances.

Sure, Stosur is perfectly capable of beating Cibulkova. However, in respect to unforced errors, Stosur looks very bad: 18 ue in 22 games v Stephens 18 ue in 18 games v Petrova 17 ue in 17 games v Falconi That is big v 3 weak opponents Cibulkova is in a different league and despite her own problems, she will force Stosur into even more ue in particular on her back hand. This game is 50/50 |

Sam for me.

i think this might be a complete blow out, 6-2 6-1 to stosur

After reviewing stats post Aza game, I also would conclude this is a 50/50 game. Im gonna bet against Stosur when serving for match though. Since Stosur wants revenge for 2010 misery in the final and many difficult opponents are out of this tournament, it would be no surprise to me if this great opportunity for Stosur makes her go into "ultra tight mode" and lose 2-6 3-6.

Hard to be too confident in Sam
Seems to choke too much in big matches but slightly less these days and plays best on clay Also agree, she has not beat much yet If Cibulkova can keep it close early, make few errors and chase down everything and make Sam hit heaps of winners. The pressure may mount and she will tighten up big time. So maybe Sam in 2 sets or more likely Cibulkova 3 tight sets All comes down to Sams backhand errors and how good she serves |

The problem with Stosurs way of playing is that she uses her arm and wrist too much. Works great when calm where that added extra touch excels. A recipe for disaster when under pressure. She should work out an alternative back up technique, where she works with the larger muscles when she´s feeling pressure. Taking her wrist out of the game at those times.

stosur = kick serve around the slovaks head, heavy top spin forehand kicks around dominika's shoulders. i was thinking about this as being a massive factor. but the thing is cib's had to deal with this sort of thing her entire career so it's nothing new to her. |

Seems like an easy Stosur win to me.
|
|
By:
Baltacha, Falconi, Petrova and Stephens are not really going to have tested her. Cibulkova had theoretically tougher matches and could be tired.

Cibu is no worldbeater, Aza was poor in her match...

but if its close, im gonna get out..

Cibulkova doesn't appear scared of anything. I do agree with the 2nd serve kick that could have too much spin for Cib to cope with.

Good start from Cibulkova, lol.
