Nadal would need to be having a very "off" day for Simon to even have a glimmer of hope of winning this one.

All in Nadal, the wind affects much more Simon.Nadal spins not affected so much.
The only thing is in Simons's favour is that Nadal do not want to play Djokatore:)))

Just having a look at some past results and since the 2006 final (last one that was 5 sets), Nadal has won every match he has played here, won 56 games and lost 2.

*that should read won 56 sets and lost only 2.

Random Tennis facts ‏ @TennisDude_
When Rafa last lost in Monte Carlo, Federer had ZERO Grand Slam Titles.

Nothing seems to point out in that direction, farki...
I'm not sure but I think I just saw Djoko in the sits, he must be checking whether to fold now or just give it a try tomorrow...

wonder will the fact that Djoker is waiting for him in final, affect Nadal's focusing against Simon?

This is what bothers me, Djoko cannot just check in onto funeral and check out... He must spent some time with family, he must have some sort of desire to see the body for the last time, there's a consolation after the funeral, all that stuff. And there's a general rule that funeral shouldn't be postponed for more then three days... strange thing to me this. He's a hero in Serbia, he must take the approach of the Serbs into account...

Every time Simon wins his odds are higher than when before Nadal started his last service game!!

I mean that winning a tourney isn't the best thing to commemorate someone when theirs body is still on this world...

Elwira the tournament is playing, it is Djoko's life.  Of course he wishes he was back home but he must see it out, I reckon he supports many people in his family with his income.

Why is this the only Nadal thread, if you had certainties like this in football there would be Free Money threads and Bank of Nadal ones.

Elwira, that's traditional (conservative) way of thinking.

The modern way of thinking is: (the granddad died old, already sick for long time, the other family members will take care of it, they will be present and by attending his funeral, Djoko wouldn't change anything there). Pay tribute to the soul, and not to the (dead) body. There will be time when Djoko could go and pay great tribute to the soul of his Granddad.

The real question (what to do) is: what would be that his Grandfather would like the most from Nole to do under the circumstances??

And the answer is simple here: WIN Monte Carlo title!
I am completely with modern way of thinking.
