I actually quite like Isner, and I dont like fast servers much. I think he has a lot more to his game than just his serve, which explains why he is ranked as he is.

Tomic was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on 21 October 1992.[3] Tomic's parents, John (Ivica) and Ady (Adisa), left Croatia, then a part of Yugoslavia,[4] several years before his birth.[5] In an interview, Tomic stated that his parents "have a Croatian background".[6] Other sources, such The Australian and The Guardian, have written that Tomic's parents are also of Bosnian heritage.[7][8] They were both working in Germany when Tomic was born. The family migrated to Queensland, Australia when Tomic was three years old.[9] His younger sister, Sara, is a junior tennis player.[10]

Why are you guys surprised? Were you expected him to win? Tomics serve is not lethal despite his height. It all hands, not enough rotation and leg power. Isner should like the serve.

No Tomics problem has nothing to do with work ethic. He hits it EXTREMELY flat, so of course he is going to be very streaky for his whole career. He likes bouncy courts so he can hit into them.
And of course he has the worst serve out of any 6'4 player on the ATP.

tomic committed the mistake to give up for a few minutes, thinking he could get back in the match later. Ag. a server like isner, thats a mistake which costs him big. now he is trying, maybe he succeeds, but what an effort to make things even in this set alone.
