Agreed entirely

One man's MUG is not necessarily another man's MUG.
By:
The concept of mug here is closely related to someone who loses you money

You should not really worry about the word MUG in the context of this forum.
However, the number of people using repulsive and disgusting obsenities are mindblowing. A week ago, one member wrote "F... you and your family." There is no excuse for that under any circumstances. It is a very sad forum. It is totally out of line and Betfair sould close it down. |

By:
That and the word "fixer"
By:
What a ridiculous thread. You can never overuse the word 'mug'
By:
Take into consideration that apparently UK based BF users are genetically incapable of civil writing and are therefore compelled to throw around that word.
By:
Indeed Birchy...I used it twice in 1 sentence...

If thats how you feel Birchola then why comment? You mug lol
By:
What a muggish comment in a mug-thread.
By:
If you go on some "sports chat" sites you will see far worse than mug. You will see people asking for players to "die", for their families to "die", matches called fixed when their player is losing, and all other types of obscenities. There are plenty of mugs, some of them play tennis, and a lot of them bet on tennis. We can all be mugs when we make a bad decision.

OP first days on forum? its quite funny when u see those kind of threads periodically by new members, also about "fix" "dasrlo is idiot"(sorry darlo
) "zamorano"...even funnier thing is that those people will be throwing mugs around in half a yr themselves hate pple who comming to the well established forum and start to criticize its code, members etc not knowing whats really is going on. mugs |

By:
Who cares what is written on an internet forum?
As long as you make money... And if you don't, you shouldn't be here anyway. |

Looks like some people need to calm down and remove the chip from their shoulders. I have no problem with the word mug at all in the sense of it being rude or offensive. I was merely saying that if we use it more sparingly then it will help people to identify better the real mug players. Just because I am new to the forum, like some others doesnt mean that I havent been doing this for years. A bit of respect for the people in here, regardless of how new they are to the forum wouldnt do any harm. After all we are here to help eachother arent we? If people want to just be rude and belittle others for the fun of it then go on Facebook or Twitter or some other crappy social site.

A recent study has revealed that forumites using this word frequently are more likely to be losers and as a result will resort to using the word more and more often as a way of compensating for their losses. The study also found that a forumite is twice as likely to lose if they try to insert this word "cleverly" into a player's name.
The conclusion of this study was that over use of this word is directly linked to a lack of original thought and the inability to form logical and coherent assessment of tennis matches. |

everyone except Djokovic = a mug

Marco, Novak, or just anyone with that name?

By:
Excellent one Shiraz !

By:
I don't mind the use of the word, 'mug'.
What really bothers me is the use of the word 'fix'. Apparently, top 4 ATP players who are worth at least $50 million are fixing matches and jeopardizing their careers to make $10k. |
By:
'if you didn't make money on that you should pack in' is my personal favourite
By:
i think actually marco is no1 atm, switched with novak 2010
same story as with louis xvi in 4 musketeers |
By:
Even players are on the joke, like this Garbiñe Muguruza who will have a wild card in Milami. Start to be annoying

shiraz nailed it

Current match thread = Monte Carlo Murray v Berdych.
The word is battered and bruised but still being thrown about, verbal abuse in it's darkest hour. |
By:
Berdych has been a gutless choking mug on bps, it's true.
By:
True enough, but there has to be a limit.
Perhaps the word could be limited by BF. Then they could start a trading market where those who do not use it can sell to those who have used their quota. Could be a new income stream for BF if they charge a commission. |
By:
Berdych isn't a mug he is Berdsh1t. Always has been and always will be. h2h.
By:
muppet used to be the word of choice
By:
even the commentator said mug yesterday, it's not just us.
By:
really? priceless ![]() |
By:
gvl, I don't look at the WTA match threads much, but from the little I have seen it seems not to be a term that people apply to females.
Is that correct? |
By:
people tend to say use words like b1tch and wh0re instead of mug when they're losing on wta
