The Swiss have chosen same surface... will be more like a hard court
|
|
By:
if they would like a fast court why not hardcourt?

I would have thought grass would be best for zee Germans. Petz seems to like it and Monaco will hate it.

Grass in February...what are you smoking Petr?

Halle indoors, no?

|
By:
can they still use carpet these days?
|
|
By:
I'm not sure indoor grass would be any good this time of year. Carpet yes as long as it's approved by the ITF...

We Germans aren't really into home advantage in Davis Cup. A few years ago we put the tie against Austria as close to the border between two countries as possible so all the Austrian fans could come and cheer for their team.

Another note on Germany's awesome relationship to Davis Cup. There's no TV for this tie.
It will only be shown online on the website of our biggest tabloid. |

You are Bilding it up nicely Edy...

This might be a letdown, but on the tv station that used to show Davis Cup they show Formula 1 PRACTICE. So that was on a friday. Unluckily it coincided with tennis in last year's tie with France, so what do you decide for if you have a crucial stage in live rubbers in tennis and motorsports? Of course you choose the few guys sitting in cars practising how to properly drive in circles.
On Sundays there's this football show with ~8 old dudes talking about the same stuff for week in, week out for 2 hours. They always preferred that over live sports too. Thinking about all that....having a reliable online broadcast is actually an advantage to the way it was the last few years. I think it would be nice to have a public broadcaster show this though. BBC shows Great Britain against all kinda crap countries, don' they? |
|
By:
No. The BBC have given up with GB's Davis Cup. Eurosport have the light rights now.

It appears that the Germans picked clay to neutralise Del Potro and it seems he pulled out of the tie due to risk of injury. Seems a bit of a punt for the Germans, can't imagine they banked on that.
Seems clay was the lesser of 2 evils because JMDP would've routed useless Mayer and out of form Petz. |

live rights...

They also expected Kohlschreiber to be part of the team, but he got ill during the week. No way would they have chosen clay if they had known Petzschner was playing the first singles against any of the argentines.
And yeah, Del Potro probably withdrew from it after the decision had been made. |

I would've picked Haas over Petz here
|
|
By:
Wouldn't have made much of a difference. Haas has a miserable head to head against Monaco...and that was all on hard courts.
|
|
By:
I think Petzschner will win, as much as I dislike him.

S and A you gotta be the worst punter around this place. I got nothing against you but your predictions really suck big time.
