We all make them from time to time and they can be very costly. They can also be profitable too if you are lucky. For example I just woke from sleep and I backed Feliciano Lopez by mistake when I thought I was backing Ruffin. This happens when you are using betting software you click the back button and realise afterwards its the wrong player. Fortunately Lopez was about to break so my mistake was profitable so I immediately hedged.

Can you share yours if you have any

Report mesmerised February 1, 2012 2:24 PM GMT
A 'slip up' bascially means a 'mistake' you have made.

Laugh oh if it's that, my worst slip is when i backed Verdasco against Cilic in Paris last year with 1 break up. All brown in the end

doubling down after a loser is always a no-no!

backing Almagro almost full bank vs Youznhy in that match when Youz smashed his racket in his head and started to bleed.

I backed Almagro at that point when both were smiling while doctor was talking to Youz...

not trading Roddick with 3 set points v hewit was pretty bad too
Report Supernando2010 February 1, 2012 2:59 PM GMT
one of my biggest slips came just now when i didnt trade out the hidalgo match when i could have earned a fortune starting from very little.
Report abolo February 1, 2012 3:00 PM GMT
I remember one, i backed at surprisingly good odds a basket team leading by 6 points thinking we was 2 minutes from the end and in fact it was 2 minutes from half time. I redded out at half time by security, knowing nothing to basket, and of course they still won in he end

I have tons of slips ups, my favourites are 'overstaking' and 'not trading out for greediness'.
Report nofx February 1, 2012 3:07 PM GMT

always the greed ffs after all this time

because of emotional betting/greed, Holland v Russia euro2008 is still and should always be my biggest loss
"they just could not lose"
Report mesmerised February 1, 2012 3:12 PM GMT
I probably should have explained it better.

Most people are talking in hindsight, when there fingers have been burnt, what the OP meant was, what mistake have you done by accident, for example if you wanted to back Player at 1.6 but clicked the lay button instead or where you have accidently typed a wrong figure in the stake box, for example pressing an extra 0 and not realising unitl you've pressed confirm.

Can't say I've done anything like that thankfully,
Report asdasf February 1, 2012 3:19 PM GMT
I've pressed the wrong button only once, got on U2.5 when wanted O2.5. I didn't realize at the time, watched the full match and thought lost the money as it was 2-0 final. When I logged in, I didn't know where the money had come from and then checked my bets and realized I placed it wrongly...luckily that time!
Report nofx February 1, 2012 3:26 PM GMT
ah, this one is easy then. lay in outright where i meant to back, just hit the wrong field. at a humongous price too!
learned to trade myself out of a very bad position that week so i chuck it up to "study-material"
it was a very good learning experience Laugh
Report gooner_jim February 1, 2012 3:30 PM GMT

I remember the story in Stockholm last year when Nalbandian withdreaw from his match against Blake, Blake and Devvarman played an exhibition instead, but Betfair was not aware and left the Blake-Nalbandian market open and some people was betting on it ! I remember the comment of one forumite i will not name because i have sympathy for him saying he was surprised the way Nalbandian was looking on the stream, no kidding it was Devvarman Laugh . Betfair finally voided the bets of course.
Report Benn38 February 2, 2012 1:28 PM GMT
