All these things have happened or are happening coz viewing figures doubled from 2 million to 4 million after Luke's run at the worlds, and then his continued success so far this year.
what he has done for his sport and what he is doing for his sport, which will contribute heavily to see him up a certainty to make the shortlist.

After Luke's success at last years worlds, a documentary was commissioned, the 1st of its kind that will look at what goes on behind the scenes, including family and friends.
No Luke no documentary !

Panini and PDC join forces to create trading cards, again this is only happening coz of the littler effect.

The VirtCam, following Luke's success the amount of people now playing at home verses other people around the world in there homes has gone crazy. Target who Littler uses have designed the VirtCam.

Dart clubs all over the country have all seen there numbers grow exponentially since littler mania arrived with many not able to take anymore people on as they are at max levels.

Luke has made the forbes list, shortlisted into the cream of europe by an independent panel, similar to a SPOTY panel. Ahead of his rival Humphries, who is the world champion and world number 1.
Barry Hearn says the World Darts Championship's future at Alexandra Palace is "under discussion" after Luke Littler's dramatic effect on the sport.

Luke Littler effect puts Alexandra Palace future as host of PDC World Darts Championship 'under discussion'
Barry Hearn: "We reckon we could sell 250,000 tickets for the World Championship and they wouldn't fit in the Ally Pally. We are keeping our options open because we have learned with Luke Littler that you sometimes can't see what is coming. It's under discussion with everybody"
Hearn says the 17-year-old is the "the gift that keeps on giving" after bursting onto the scene and taking darts into the mainstream.

‘Luke Littler effect’ causes pubco to install dartboards

A pubco has decided to put dartboards into 171 pubs after growth in demand following the interest in teenage player Luke Littler.

The news comes off the back of Littler’s arrival into the professional darts world at the age of 16, where he reached the final of the PDC World Championship last December, eventually losing to Luke Humphries.

But now Amber Taverns has decided to respond to the demand from its customers for more boards by placing them into every one of their pubs and bars across its UK-wide estate.

Chief executive of the pubco, James Baer, said that although darts “doesn’t sound the most glamorous or exciting thing” due to Little “there has been a real take-up”

He said: “It’s another reason to come to the pub.”

Pub games
One of the many videos that went viral on social media during Littler’s PDC run was from his local pub, The Windle in St Helens.

Here, he had been a regular darts thrower, as part of his apprenticeship at the St Helens Dart Academy.

The other video was of the team at the Runcorn Golf Club bar, home to his current pub darts team, ‘The Bogey Flickers’, who jumped for joy at his victory.

Following the smoking ban and the rise of cheap off-trade alcohol sales, wet-led community pubs have had to adapt, and across the country darts has played a vital role in the survival of the on-trade in the last decade.

Littler is a great example of the shift to encouraging younger people into the ‘adult space’ of pubs. Indeed, another picture which went viral on social media yesterday was of fellow finalist Luke Humphries taking on the-then 12 year old Littler at another pub tournament in Hayling Island, again illustrated this change of attitudes perfectly.

Changing rules
Speaking to the BBC earlier this year, Littler said of the importance of pubs in his career: “From the age of 18 months I’ve just been non stop and then by the age of four I got onto the proper board. When we moved to Warrington when I was eight or nine, we started going out to pubs four or five times a week and I was just non-stop.”

This would have been unthinkable a generation ago. Pubs were legally ‘out of bounds’ for under-14s until 1995, and teenagers and children were frowned upon until much more recently. In fact, a-board signs still exist across the UK which state rules such as ‘no under-12s after 7pm’.

The Luke Littler effect has hit Bristol Uni as popularity of darts soars amongst students
The number of Darts Society members has grown nearly three fold since the World Darts Championships

Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler rocked the sporting world earlier this year when he incredibly reached the final of the PDC World Darts Championship. The 17-year-old’s monumental rise to the top, alongside his love of scranning kebabs and puffing on vapes, has seen the popularity of darts soar nationwide, with seemingly everybody now either owning a darts board or making frequent trips to their local boozer to have a go at the game.

If you had asked most people about darts this time last year, they would have had very little knowledge, if any, about the sport, how it works, or who the top players are, but now it seems that just about everyone knows every little detail about the sport.

The Luke Littler effect has undoubtedly had a monumental impact at Bristol University this term, with the growing enthusiasm for darts no more apparent than through the remarkable increase in Bristol Darts Society membership and the “Ally Pally Student Darts” Night hosted at SWX last month.

Dolled up in their favourite Amazon fancy dress costume, typically no more than £20 and disproportionately either a traffic cone, an Ali G imitation or a ‘Where’s Wally?’ outfit, students stumbled into SWX in February for a much anticipated night of student darts. The event had a relatively straightforward system, with two students, one from Bristol Uni and one from UWE, set to go face-to-face in the ultimate test of strength and endurance.

Upon arrival, each person was welcomed with their very own darts crowd placard, which were inevitably used as artillery to disrespect their rival Bristol uni. One sign being held proudly in the air by someone dressed as a monkey read: “UWE SUCKS… MY BANANA”; the heated rivalry that was to characterise the rest of the night was absolutely set.

From the highs of incredible 180s to the lows of a notorious ‘double one’ play-off, the student darts night had it all. That’s not to mention that drinks, despite the outrageous prices, were constantly flowing, and every single pop-banger you can imagine was blasting out all night long to create a spectacular atmosphere.

Whilst the success of the night serves as tremendous evidence for the growing popularity of the English pub game at Bristol Uni, the clearest indication comes from rising membership of the UoB Darts Society.  The society congregates at their beloved All Stars Sports Bar every Thursday simply for a good sesh of throwing darts and drinking beer, while they also host frequent tournament events at Den & Terrace.

Speaking to members of the society, The Bristol Tab discovered that the number of members has not only risen this term but has grown nearly threefold. Before Luke Littler’s run at the recent World Championships, the society was often struggling to get even 10 members to come to All Stars each week, whereas following the event, Thursday turnouts have often amassed 30 people.

This is only set to grow with the upcoming Varsity match against Bath University on Friday 19th April, which follows the success of last year’s sold out match at the Student Union against Cardiff University.

Discussing the event, the captain of the Bristol team said: “Darts Varsity is the highlight of the social calendar. It promises high quality darts, a fierce atmosphere, and the perfect excuse to get a little silly. It is truly a night to remember!”

Tickets are selling quickly, so do not miss out on what could be one of the biggest and best nights out at Bristol Uni this year.

I wasn't really that impressed with this piece myself, it lacks my usual depthness. It covers all the main points though, what he's done to transcend the sport and why he has a very good chance of making the shortlist. The last piece about Bristol Uni is interesting as i see what happened there mirrored all over the country in various cities and towns. The extra dartboard piece i've also experienced many times on my travels so its not just that company that has implemented those measures.

Drifted to 8.8 on the market!

Your posts seem to be inversely affecting his price!

Think this current one might be reminding people the danger he isn't nommed, hence the drifting.

I would rather be on Pidcock @40, getting boo's from the French, a puncture then going on to win is a great story that I think the public can get behind.
