Finland: Changes to UMK sees Saara Aalto for Eurovision 2018! https://tinyurl.com/ybv3m3dk
"From Finland to the UK and back Aalto is certainly no stranger to the Finnish national selection process, having previously tried to represent her home nation on a total of 2 occasions: in 2011 and in 2016. Her international breakthrough came last year shortly after her previous UMK participation, when she auditioned for the UK version of the X Factor. The Finnish star managed to take herself right through to the X Factor final, eventually finishing as runner-up. However it didn’t end there for Aalto, as she went on to sign with an international record label. Final on 3 March The date of UMK 2018 was also confirmed this morning, with the Finnish national final all set to take place on the 3 March" There will be 3 songs that Saara will song in the final which will be decided by the public and international jury. As Saara is known by the fanboys in the bubble it would be of no surprise that she and Finland get well hyped up by the fanboys which results in Finland being the favourite or top 3 favourite in the betting. |

Russia: Philipp Kirkorov hints at return of the ‘Dream Team’? https://tinyurl.com/ybud6hqx
"The famous Russian songwriter and man behind many fan-favourite Eurovision hits, Philipp Kirkorov, hinted in an Instagram post about his return to the Eurovision Song Contest. In his birthday post to the Greek songwriter Dimitris Kontopoulos, former Eurovision artist and songwriter Philipp Kirkorov spoke of their success as the Eurovision ‘Dream Team’, and says “we again start to prepare ‘miracle adventure’ for next year”. Russia in 2018? Although Russia previously stated that since Yuliya Samolova was banned from competing in Ukraine, she would automatically compete for them in 2018, there have been no official announcements by the Russian broadcaster as of yet. This has sparked rumours amongst fans that Yuliya may not be representing Russia in Lisbon, and instead the duty will fall to a singer who has previously been involved with the ‘Dream Team’, such as Sergey Lazarev. Until we have an official announcement from the Russian broadcaster, we still do not know who will fly the Russian flag in Lisbon! Other than Russia, many other countries could see the return of the ‘Dream Team’, with the group having produced a number of entries for many countries in the competition over the past number of years. Together, the ‘Dream Team’ have been responsible for some of the most popular modern Eurovision songs, including Belarus 2007, Ukraine 2008, Russia 2014 and Russia 2016. Who could it be for 2018?" |

EBU: “Online voting is a test for adult Eurovision” http://www.escdaily.com/ebu-online-voting-test-adult-eurovision/#
"Tonight at 18:00 CET, the online voting for Junior Eurovision 2017 starts. It’s the most serious experiment with online voting in the Eurovision world thus far. According to EBU’s Chief Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand, it’s an experiment that could lead towards the adult contest as well. So how does it work? If you want to cast your vote in Junior Eurovision 2017, you can do so through this website. The voting starts at 18:00 CET. The EBU also released an introductory video about the voting process which you can watch HERE. You can vote for at least 3 countries, and maximum 5, including your own country. All votes from all countries will be added into one big pile, then calculated into percentages, and then recalculated towards 928 points (exactly 50% of the total vote). This means that if more Polish people vote than for example Australians, Poles will have a bigger influence on the outcome of the contest. Voting is free, and everyone can vote one time and one time only. How the EBU exactly plans to execute this plan and control that people do not vote more than once, is not made public yet. However, Jon Ola Sand told ESCDaily that he thinks the system is secure enough: “We don’t think so, because you have to vote for at least three countries. We think it’s a fair system – as fair as it gets.”" Now people may think this is a good idea to have online voting for the ESC contest (if should happen) but i can foresee one country abusing this system to set up a bot across Europe to flood the online voting casting votes for that one country. I am sure Putin will be pleased if his country wins! |
