Matt smashed Sunday, which is surprising as I thought Purple Rain and Saturday won it for him. 5AM nearly won the whole thing, superb effort!

Matt really smashed her tonight. That's a huge turn around. What can that be put down to? Loads of votes coming in tonight and casuals going for him?

Looking at the semi final results and how he was being treated I would have had Matt down as least likely to have won.

As always most votes on the night and most would say Matt did best in the final

I understand Cowell did used to read Sofabet, until he found a much better site called `EntertainmentOdds`. Far better analysis and writers.

Their clues as to who was winning are only clear with hindsight aren't they? Maybe they were clear at the time, if so I missed them.

I was referring to all the other signals though, all the staging and comments, eg they're sabotaging that one, no that one, no they don't care who wins etc.

ok but in simple terms they spoke at the start of the show as though Saara was winning and then as the show (and vote) went on the comments switched...Cowell likes to be on message with his winner

`Whateer happens...` to Matt, Saara`s winning
Then Cowell`s `you could do this`, he`s clearly closing
Then `whatever happens` to Saara, and Matt`s won. All so obvious...

Yeah "you could do this" I thought was the clearest indication Saara won Saturday marginally but on the night he had every chance and was closing.

If they were trying to spook the punters their comments would have been reversed

I doubt I`m alone in having believed Saara was ahead from last night; therefore, the fact that there was no `it`s close`, or, `the lead`s changed`, had to be taken as `whoever was in front last night, still is. And it`s not even close!` Most unusual for them not to hype up the competitive state of affairs, although, again with hindsight, three-quarters of the way through, Sharon did say `it`s very close`, but I/we deemed it meaningless.

I reckon Matt was already ahead by the start of tonight's show.

Wasn't there a vote freeze as per the results? Can't remember. Yes tim the lack of reference to the voting dynamic changing spooked me too. Odd really if as it appears the lead changed hands.

I think I'd disagree for two reasons:

1. The judges comments
2. No reason why the votes wouldn't be proportionally the same as during the semi given nothing had changed

Purple Rain would have been a big boost late on and then the vote transfer from 5AM overnight would have favoured Matt.

5 more free app votes.

None of that explains the judges comments...Cowell is given them in running I'm sure...consensus on here was she was leading at start of show. If you are right Matt would have been well ahead and with the momentum.

Given the votes that is...

I wouldn't read too much into the comments. Cowell is such an egomaniac he probably believed he could ramp Saara over the line whatever.

The comments move the markets but the market struggled with interpreting them even though the clues were there I'm sure.
