I'll say from the start, this is a punt..a gamble as big and loud as Heavy D himself.
i can't really recommend him coz i don't even know how or where this coach ends up...no middle ground, either at the bottom of a cliff or winnerville.
but if you fancy a speculative punt along with me, these are the reasons why i think he could win the nation's hearts over. (well at least half of them, to make a huge run)
there is no doubt he's gonna be marmite, it's what type and the strength..i'll settle for 50/50 down the middle coz in a VTW that still carries a sh1t load of weight and would easily see him make the final.
right Heavy D - real name colin Newell is a professional actor and stand up comic (he reckons)
i know him from storage hunters UK, where he plays the part of Heavy D...a really annoying buyer who gets on everyone's nerves by shouting 'boooooom' a lot.
this catchphrase has really taken off with his fans and he's obviously gone into the house to raise the profile of this comedy character he's invented for himself.
it's an extremely brave move on his part and never been tried before, i find it original and fascinating.
the closest housemate to have done this was gary busey imo
who seemed to have acted brilliantly in the house, to win on the bridal.
as long as Heavy D is not an idiot 24/7 and we see him mix it up with colin, i think he has a great chance of winning the public over.
He knows colin is not well known but Heavy D is too some degree and is definitely trying to cash in on this.
its a bit like steve coogan going in as alan partridge.
i think he'll win over a vast amount of the public coz he's entertaining, funny, lovable and extremely likable.
on storage hunters he gets massively picked on by the rest of the buyers for being really annoying, if this does transpire in the house and they start bitching and picking on him, it could go the same way as the busey win..with most of the house on his back.
when he puts on his poor me act all you can do is feel sorry for the big fella, as he can come across as very childlike, which makes him appear vulnerable and endearing
