five leaves leftWhy did Estonia send that awful ****ing dirge when they had the amazing I Wear* Experiment_______Baffles me mate. Top tune is that...but too classy for ESC IMO. Supersonic by Laura on the other hand I thought was perfect for this comp. After all the love Eesti Laul got recently and now they don't even qualify. Madness.
I wasn't a fan of Laura but I'm sure it would have qualified in that poor semi. As would 3 or 4 others. Patience, Sally and Sies for sure

Esctracker, Russia 10, France 10
Shows the advantage of not automatically qualifying

Hard to argue with that. I love quite a few songs this year but maybe not iTunes friendly songs.
Unless something comes out of the 2nd semi esctracker could be useless this year

It's probably the biggest indictment of this year's comp that while I was underwhelmed by Russia I'm finding it increasingly hard to make a case for anything else to come along and beat it.France staging lets down a good songUkraine has got the power to WOW but it's controversial nature might mean a lot of people don't approve or even get that emotionAustralia - dullMalta - dull (boobs are fantastic though )Sweden - song OK but poor drawSpain - can a giant country not find decent backing singers??
I've heard people saying that Ukraine won't win because of what the lyrics are about etc. and people won't vote for that etc. Well in my opinion in 2007 people voted for Serbia a song that was sung in Serbian without knowing to what she was singing about. Serbia won because it was a great performance that people who didn't understand Serbian voted for it. There are millions of people in Europe who don't speak or understand English and if Jamala pulls off a great performance then those people who don't speak or understand English will vote for her because of the performance despite not knowing what she is singing about because they don't speak or understand English just like the people who voted in 2007 for Serbia despite not knowing what she was singing about because they didn't speak or understand Serbian.
