Good luck to all train owners and all passengers. IMO one of the most interesting and entertaining series ever. David's dead being one of the priceless moments. Steph and Jez romance. Pol Pots failed machinations. Megan's rant in the diary room.

Too close to call between the top three in the market. My view is that anyone who gets 35% or so of the vote will win.

I made several references to Julie Goodyear...seems apposite I think. Turned MEMs off. Plus I think she went from the TCO to getting thrown under the bus in the edit in the last few days. Linked to her voting figures I suspect.

Put it this way, do you think he would have won if he was from TOWIE instead of GS? I certainly don't.
Report George Bailey February 6, 2016 1:13 AM GMT
I think you are 100% wrong to say he won "simply because" he was from GS. He was liked in GS but others are liked in TOWIE. People go into the house loved and hated but its won in the house. He was a nice, enthusiastic guy and that came across and that was enough for many MEMs to vote for him despite them never having seen GS I suspect.

Ultimately you are saying anybody who had never seen GS would never vote for him. Nah.

Report Jack Bauer '24' February 6, 2016 1:23 AM GMT
I'm saying that GS fans seem to be very motivated to actually vote in these shows whereas fans of other shows like TOWIE don't seem to vote for their contestants even though they also have a huge number of twitter followers.

No TOWIE member has ever gone close to winning even though the viewing and voting demographic is probably more in line with CBB and IAC. I don't believe it was the MEM vote that won it for him but the motivated GS fans.

I don't think anyone throws it away the winner just wins. No Scotty and Step would have been a worthy winner. As usual viewer's opinions firm up last few days...even over four weeks its a marathon not a sprint...Devon Loch? Wink

Report George Bailey February 6, 2016 1:33 AM GMT

Report Jack Bauer '24' February 6, 2016 1:38 AM GMT
Wright is the only one to come close but he was TCO from the start and featured very heavily throughout and still got turned over despite trading 1.2ish in the final.

Ricci didn't have the qualities to win and didn't even make the final. If he'd made the final then the fan-base may have been motivated to vote. But that series was dominated by Gary Busey who was the star of the show from start to finish and is in my view the best winner ever.

Scotty had the qualities to win in what ended up a poor field but I don't think he deserved it on what we saw as he contributed very little and I don't think he would have won without the GS vote.
Report Jack Bauer '24' February 6, 2016 1:45 AM GMT
The Geordie vote is probably the strongest regional vote in England.
Report George Bailey February 6, 2016 1:46 AM GMT

All I'm saying is that it's a massive advantage being from GS. They still have to have the qualities to win as both Charlotte and Vicky did. My concern is that these markets are going to be ruined if this continues as you won't get the chance to back them at decent prices. Any decent contenders from GS will be opening up at evens in future shows.

Tiffany was sub 2.0 going into the final day, led every barometer going basically. It would have been slightly strange had she drifted above 2.0+. usually you'd expect odds on favourites winning on every barometer to go even heavier odds on like they used to before insiders (remember Kenzie and Samanda?). However she drifted to 9.0+. Feel free to draw your own conclusions, but I've been doing this for 10+ years and am aware that level of drift with Scotty going from circa 3.0 into 1.2 in the same space of time (pre Tiffanys exit) is 100% the work of someone "in the know". I'm not here to convince anyway as either you're clever and understand market mechanics and that insiders cleared up on Scotty T and took a lot of niaives people money, or you come up with "mass realization" theories which is about as water tight as Peter Burns saying he hasn't had any plastic surgery.

I'm going to put it forward to Betfair as it's surely in all our interests that the markets remain.
Report George Bailey February 6, 2016 1:07 PM GMT
Good idea to ask BF to look into it but tbh its a bit premature to be judge and jury before they have investigated. The insiders seem to be selective too....maybe they are level now after going all in on Joel?

Don't get too carried away on this.

That's just wrong. Scotty led the FB likes on the final day and I had him leading on twitter on the night. Steph was top on TM
So she wasn't leading any barometers apart from the useless DS and bbspy
People were maybe also backing on the edit. Yet another shocker for Tiff and all of a sudden Daniella is saying how lovely Scotty and Steph are. That followed the previous nights show where Scotty and Steph had the task

Maybe there were insiders. No reason why you can't ring them up and ask them to look at it. It might stop you whining on here for a few minutes

Well if BF say no insiders we are still left scratching our heads and my "mass realisation" theory still plausible imo. Nobody seemed keen to back Tiffany on the drift even though they were happy to back her odds on a bit before. Wasn't she value or was it just an acceptance the game was up? The one Golden Rule for me anyway is that losing is worse than winning is good. See link below which quantifies it and also explains why voters take the "safe" options in votes eg Scottish referendum and no doubt the EU one. Seems losing is twice as bad. I'd go with that. If Tiffany had won I'd have been verrrrryyyyyyy p1ssed off.
