Backing singer, cultured voice, no money, lives with his little dog. Nothing would create a bigger story, a bigger feel good factor, than Anton winning.

Anton may not be effected by Cowell's put downs, and Cowell has often put down people in his own category whey it suited. It may even strengthen him because everybody like a witty or strong come-back. Whereas someone like Max for example may not have the right character to come off so well.

Anton has the voice to become a real star. The UK version of the late great Luther Vandross,he is that good. An outstanding talent,if there is any justice he will the competition hands down

Anton was on oddscheckers most popular bets last week. The more who bet the more will be motivated to vote. The guy is coming across really well but Simon is doing him absolutely no favours at all. We need to look out for his bursts of charisma to counter-attack the machine.

Anton has been exposed as a liar.. telling porky pies about his adoptive childhood etc.. its all a load of rubbish apparently

However good a singer he may be... the public dont like a fraud... I cant see him winning when this gets out

I can't find it at any of those 3 sites now. Has Cowell got them to pull it (he has influence, they all want to get his "news" from behind the scenes in XF and BGT)? Or maybe I've just missed it.

The last article headlines with "Anton Stephans SCARING bosses!" which is closer but they don't give any reasons why they might be scared.

Anyone remember any such articles in any other year, about Cowell deliberately sabotaging acts? And sabotaging his own act at that.

Henry, the only people left watching are gamblers and those that toe the line...Look at Fleur East's success considering her dreadful performances last year. In the semi-final she was pretty good due to the song choice, production and auto-tune thrown at her but we all knew how weak she was most weeks.

That's good then. They won't blame it on lack of talent etc, that they could level at other acts. Water off a duck's back and Anton still in the game.

A more extreme tactic of what we saw with Andrea. He's permanently undermined now is the way I see it.

All this talk of Anton's demise is unconvincing and vapid, without facts. Maybe worried reds.

Andrea was rather ugly with the faces he pulled. And he was dull. I never got used to him. And that was worse for him than the gold and gluttony.

Anton too has a facial retinue too but he's very watchable and much more likable. He's bright and interesting and people want him back to see what he does next. Watch his after performance chat with the judges and with Caroline. He's a stayer and a grower and maybe a winner.

For me in any case, betting on specials is about gut instinct and not fact. Not being particularly big-headed, but it serves me well.

But...with very different outcomes imo. I think Anton is beyond it. He's already handled it excellently. I asked in another thread has any other of Cowell's many sabotage attempts elicited a press "unfair sabotage" outcry like this one did. Nobody answered so I think the answer is as I thought - no. It's more understood now. That's one reason why they're losing viewers.

So Anton's performance was rubbish but they still voted him in. Cowell will have to be more subtle and try harder and he often doesn't get his way. They gave up quickly enough trying to de-ramp Sam Bailey.

Anton was fantastic, he's a shrewd cookie and knew the score, but played the game. Will need a miracle to win tho, unless tptb have a most unusual u-turn, and decide they're suddenly comfortable with him winning.

I don't trail around the net for online stories, but I've not heard of the show being accused of deliberately sabotaging an act via the performance itself.

The viewers who understand the machinations of the show have largely turned off

Nope, not as obviously as last week, the damage is done. Whether it was a catastrophic failure or not depends on your pov.

No damage whatsoever. In fact it strengthened him, his after performance chat with the judges and Caroline was the best vote gathering chat-back I've ever seen on XF, and there have been some good ones eg Maloney, Rylan.

I wonder if Cowell will now change to supporting him. Apparently Sinitta found him very loveable when they were close, but only as a friend she says.
