Lithuania came second in the televote in UK and Ireland. Romania topped the Spanish and Italian televotes. Armenia topped the Belgian televote. Russia topped the Latvian televote. In all cases, clearly lots of expats voting for the motherland. In a lot of cases you get the feeling that some countries could send a toothless grandfather along to burp into a microphone and they'd still get lots of points based on their expats.
Turkey withdrew in a huff when they switched from all televote to mixed televote/jury. That's kinda like a Premier League team withdrawing when they're told that instead of a 6 point headstart over other teams, they'll only get three in future.

Personal opinion is that Turkey used that as an excuse that they were withdrawing for financial reasons.
A bit like India for 60 years claiming they withdrew from the 1950 World Cup in Brazil (after going through the crazy process just qualify back then) because FIFA wouldn't let them play barefoot....only to finally admit it was the cost of going to Brazil that was what preveted them going.

Been fascinating reading the differet voting splits. I've misjudged the Polish diaspora in this country. I thought the Greek/Turkish vote still ruled in this country but I'll have to adjust that considerably. That said, maybe the Polish vote was siply down to a lot of 'boob men' in Britain!!
Only looked at about 5 countries but what's noticeable is the little twist introduced last year has had a big effect. 'Marmite' songs are hit badly. It's been discussed on this forum before but we have clear evidence of it now. Poland would have recived points under the old system but because juries can classify them as 25th rather than jt-13th, they got no points whereas under the old system, the 1st in the televote would have singlehandeedly helped to at least some level of points.
