5 million watched Beijing, to put it in perspective. Clearly there will be more interest in the home Olympics. I believe it could be a reasonably long programme.

I knew the peak would be huge but very surprised the average held up over 4 hours into the morning. I hadn't bargained for the stoic nature of Brits. Trevor Nelson literally sent me to sleep, zzzzz.

I did misjudge it, there seemed to be a fair amount of indifference to the olympics in the lead up, with the timings I thought it would be lucky to achieve 18 million average.
