OC? so many abbreviations so little time....

opening ceremony. I've been checking Olympic specials for months and managed to miss the best bet
. |
By:
oh I thought this was one of your tv "viewers" bets
By:
ah it is a viewer bet...doh!

100/1 its fork handles that light the flame

5 million watched Beijing, to put it in perspective. Clearly there will be more interest in the home Olympics. I believe it could be a reasonably long programme.
By:
If it is weekday and after work should do ok. I will be on a cruise...no not that kind.
By:
Beijing was aired in uk between 12.45pm and 5.15pm.
By:
Next Friday night, 9pm kick off officially.

Just on Beeb? I see they have set up 22 BBC HD channels...don't remember reading that just seen them on the channel list...will they have odds on numbers watching the fencing on HD Channel 19 a week on Tuesday...can we have a market BF?
By:
OMG 6/1??? Thats the worst bit of odds compiling i've ever seen.
Should be 1/50. |
By:
It beggers belief that they are still 11/8.
The bloke compiling that should not have a job. |
By:
I was allowed to have a bit more on at the shorter price. Pity there's no PP within 30 miles of me.
By:
I only saw it when it was 7/4, was allowed 8 quid so didn't even bother.
By:
PP? won't even bother looking. what were the details?

Link to market. I think under 22 million is likeliest. |
By:
ta...no odds up but I agree...half the country will be abroad trying to avoid them
By:
They still list 34million+ @5-1
![]() I got ok amount on, three figure exposure. |
By:
I'm not watching. HTH
By:
34m? does that include illegal immigrants?

Please turn orf

BBC One
06:00 - Olympic Breakfast: 1.7m (39.0%) 13:00 - BBC News at One: 2.5m (33.8%) 13:30 - Regional News and Weather: 2.6m (33.8%) 17:00 - London 2012: Countdown to the Olympics: 1.9m (13.5%) 18:00 - BBC News at Six: 5.0m (32.2%) 18:30 - Regional News and Weather: 6.3m (37.1%) 19:00 - Olympics Countdown: 10.1m (44.8%) 21:00 - Olympics 2012: 22.4m (82.5%) 25:00 - BBC News: 1.9m (39.4%) Absolutely astonishing figures and yet only just going over Paddies bottom line. An awfully researched market but they have my cash this time. Very stubborn of the brits to sit through 4 hours of it. |
By:
only diehards watching BB and voting in the H2H then
By:
BB was under a million.
By:
Opening ceremony figures hardly surprising.
Peaked at 27M. Only the loons on DS and punters will have watched BB |
By:
I knew the peak would be huge but very surprised the average held up over 4 hours into the morning. I hadn't bargained for the stoic nature of Brits. Trevor Nelson literally sent me to sleep, zzzzz.
By:
must be the biggest ever tv audience after midnight i'd imagine
By:
Surely the free bit on television x gets more?
By:
What was the original bet?
By:
sub 22m average @7-4 for me. Opened 6s.
Could easily have covered on the only other possibility @4-1, not my style tho! Big shift in Gold Medal table market already. I'm on China @6-4, they were always going to have 'come from nowhere' types. |
By:
Desperately unlucky cider.
By:
See that chinese female swimmer just now? Looked like a clockwork toy
![]() |
By:
I did misjudge it, there seemed to be a fair amount of indifference to the olympics in the lead up, with the timings I thought it would be lucky to achieve 18 million average.
By:
14M got off their arses to see the torch. Including me. So was always going to be a decent audience, but clearly the PP odds were way out.
By:
Do any firms still have which GB team will win the most golds?
By:
Not that I could see, been looking around for decent specials but not much about.
By:
Ok, cheers cider.
I was going to back the boxing team and they're going very well so far. |
