ESC SEMI-FINAL 1...list your 10 Qualifiers...in preferential order.

what do you by preferential order?

results wise financially,
personal preference, or
what we think is most likely to happen?

MEAN by - ffs

Here is who I think will qualify:

Iceland
Greece
Albania
Romania
Belgium
Israel
Cyprus
Denmark
Russia
Moldova

Mine would be the same as spanky, except I'd replace Belgium with either Finland or Switzerland

sorry squares...PERSONAL PREFERENCE m8.

lol. I've done who I think will qualify.
TBH my favs wouldn't be much different. Excpet Greece and Iceland would be missing.

Who I want to qualify:

1.Romania
2.Iceland
3.Ireland
don't really care after hat point but
4.Hungary
5.Switzerland
6.Finland
as I like these and
7.Greece
8.Moldova
9. Latvia
10.Israel

Who I think will:

1.Romania
2.Iceland
3.Denmark
4.Russia
5.Greece
6.Moldova
7.Ireland
8.Cyprus
9.Hungary
10.one of Belgium/Finland/Switzerland can't call it until I see them on Tuesday

My Personal Preference list would be more of a "I dislike these 10 songs less than the rest" which does not corelate with the order of how I think it may pan out below (1-10)

1.  Romania
2.  Denmark
3.  Greece
4.  Iceland
5.  Russia
6.  Cyprus
7.  Moldova
8.  Albania
9.  Ireland
10. Switzerland

GL all ahead of the Semi's!

other than those that I have a financial interest in going through my greatest wishes would be that a)the Albanian abomination fails to make it through as I can't listen to it any more and b) Cyprus fails to qualify so I can say I told you so

Who cares about the girly personal preferences of others? This is a betting site.

Milan who do you THINK will qualify mate, and in order? That's what we're interested in.

I think these will qualify:

Romania
Denmark
Iceland
Moldova
Ireland
Russia
Cyprus
Hungary
Finland
Albania

Bold shout with Cyprus Bex, but it has the potential to be the Poster Boy for ESC fanwank
Despite ropey rehearsals/shaky vocal I think the fact it's up after the facebook song should make it look like a masterpiece!
I just have a feeling that all these kitsch/ditzy/bubble gum songs will do well in this time of Euro-depression. I know that traditionally they don't have a great track record, but people want/need some fun!

PMSL @ Henry!
Dead right mate! No mincin around and No Greece either! I like it

I think Cyprus will qualify tbh I put it in my list, however I'd be tempted to lay it at the price. It will disappear without trace once Saturday results come around, I have no doubt whatsoever about that.
I take your point onboard but imo juries will kill it and when it comes to 'feelgood' factor songs then there are better ones

No Greece Henry? Very bold

Bex, very true, I agree we all know there are better ones

PMSL @ Henry!
Dead right mate! No mincin around and No Greece either! Shocked I like it

Oops I missed Greece, sorry I'll have to redo it.  (They better qualify, I've even backed them a little to do so.

It's all about Romania for me.  For once I got on a steaming train before it left the platform (got 12/1 with bwin on the semi win, now generally 6s)

Romania
Denmark
Iceland
Moldova
Ireland
Russia
Cyprus
Hungary
Switerland
Albania (I have to confess to being baffled for love for this one - it's awful, yet I'll not back or lay it and just leave it be due to the love for it elsewhere)

CORRECTION Who I think these will qualify:

Romania
Denmark
Greece
Iceland
Moldova
Ireland
Russia
Cyprus
Hungary
Finland

No Greece Henry? Very bold

A typo, corrected now. Looks like the last 4 of us are very similar except for the last few countries (and I never take a position on what I consider the borderlines anyway).

You obviously forgot Greece like I originally did honestcl? Redo it properly

Christ, I've been rumbled - I knew it was a mistake to copy and paste Henry VIII's!

Switch Hungary for Greece on my list!

Ok I will have a crack at it
What I think will happen

Romania
Russia
Iceland
Greece
Ireland
Denmark
Switzerland
Cyprus
Moldova
Hungary

It's still very much 10 from 13 for me.

I do think Belgium will get in (remember Lithuania topped the jury vote in the semi last year) and I am beginning to think Hungary could edge out Switzerland.

Romania
Greece
Ireland
Russia
Denmark
Moldova
Iceland
Belgium
Cyprus
Hungary (or Swizerland)

so no Ireland for you or Spanky?

I forgot about them.
They only just scraped thru from the pimp slot last year with a better song and better staging.
On the flip side they have more European fans now.
All things considered 1.35 looks on short side

Yes, I've got Ireland out and Belgium in. Again, I just don't see Ireland who barely scraped through last time making it with what by all accounts is a poorer version of their last rendition. But I wouldn't exclude that they make it...

The definite non-qualifiers for me are San Marino and Montenegro. I'd wager my house that they won't make it without losing any sleep. I'd also be really, really surprised if Austria or Latvia made it. Beyond that everyone still stands a chance in my read...

This time last year Jedmania was at fever pitch in Germany with the pair hardly seen without Lena hanging out of, or banging on about them. The same was true with the fanfare here in the red tops and media at this point last year.

This year I think there has been much less of a fuss over them. I don't think there will be a big contraction in their price like last year, so beware traders, however I do think that their management feel the job's done already with the fanbase they've garnered during and subsequent to ESC 2011. A strong televote should have them in the final and that's all they want - nothing greater expected... Just to get through and put another 12 months on their shelf life

^^ That said I certainly wouldn't be backing them at the price, with their main televote opposition in the same semi and an arguably weaker overall package in terms of song and production. I'll be leaving them alone

Updated my prediction and filled in the final place based on the dress rehearsals:

1.Romania
2.Denmark
3.Russia
4.Iceland
5.Moldova
6.Greece
7.Ireland
8.Hungary
9.Cyprus
10.Belgium

still no Albania

Well they're the same 10 as me now Bex...I'm thinking Hungary will edge the Swiss out now, but maybe both could make it in at the expense of Cyprus?

I'm scared to get ny hopes up too much for Cyprus failing.

In all honesty though going from my voting strength info and where I see it with the juries I shouldn't have it in there

Switzerland disappointed me a little tbh thats probably why

not their performance just the song isn't quite as good as a few bloggers had me believing

I think it's a decent enough soft rock song but not as much appeal as something like New Tomorrow from last year that the juries loved.

1.Moldova
2.Denmark
3.Russia
4.Romania
5.Greece
6.Cyprus
7.Albania
8.Israel
9.Ireland
10.Finland

Finland a contender for bottom 3 I reckon.

no Iceland leaves - might have known

Cyprus 6 wtf you had it winning the whole thing earlier today didn't you??

Ivi let me down it seems

Never trust a Greek Cypriot woman. My dad did his national service out there and they're a dodgy lot ;)

clucking bell 'popking'...Finland is a song...Moldova is a circus act...is this europes got talent or a phuck!ng song contest!

'5' with Moldova #1...he also likes the ugly spanish duckling and the loon from Albania...you need a break fella.

Finland is an uninspiring dirge.

Finand is a beautifully soothing song.

Finland is a beautifully soothing song.

ah I see 'list your 10 qualifiers' was an invitation for everyone except me then

1.Romania
2.Denmark
3.Iceland
4.Russia
5.Greece
6.Moldova
7.Cyprus
8.Albania
9.Ireland
10.Switzerland

Coin toss Swiss or Hungary for final spot.

From Twitter, I get a hunch that the Irish twins might be able to mobilize their 500.000 Twitter followers to launch a televoting campaign to lift their dismal song with its desperate over the top performance to the finals.

I'd be very surprised, however, if this more gimmicky but overall poorer rendition of last year would score a top 10 among juries.

I think you're the only one who finds it more gimmicky.  The general concensus seems to be the song is better, but less gimmicky...

Popking, last year the gimmick looked fresh. And the performance and the backdrop tied in neatly with the song. This year it looks old, worn and contrived. These boys haven't progressed, they're regressing... I don't see that as a winning formula but they do have a fanbase. So I'm changing my prediction to them not landing in the top 10 with the juries. In my opinion, they might still make it by virtue of the televote although that may well be a heavy lift...

It's all about opinions Spanky - I know you rate the Italian song highly but there's many on here, myself included who don't see it living up the hype.  I'm happy to back Ireland in the overall top 10 market though, and lay Italy at the current price.

Yes, I do rate Italy highly BUT I haven't seen the camera work. Based on the You Tube clips which don't give us the full picture, I'm now inclined to see Romania as a strong contender for the televote. It would not surprise my if they top it. I still see Italy as getting a good jury score but I cant judge if it will be enough...

I wish we could see the closeups of the camera work that the guys in the press room get... Then I'd feel more certain about Italy.

I'd be utterly astonished if Romania win.

I'd be surprised if they top the jury vote. It would not surprise me if they win the televote. Overall, I think they can win. So far, I've only had this feeling with Italy who have the class but may just miss the oomph in their performance to captivate a broad audience.

Well I don't see Romania or Italy as winners, but I'm happy with the one of the 2 I have green at least.

Lonnegan,
I like your 10 - pretty much a couple of flip flops and we're on exactly the same page mate!
Hope it works out like that

Cheers NXRBL, fingers crossed!

As long as Romania run Top 3 in the semi it will be all smiles at this end.

wow Hungary is seriously underated amongst this tosh imo.

1 Russia
2 Denmark
3 Cyprus
4 Iceland
5 Greece
6 Moldova
7 Romania
8 Switzerland
9 Hungary
10 Israel

Before I post my selections (which are pretty much the same with most, it might be the order that changes only), I have a question. It seems that the 'Big 5' plus Azerbaijan won't be voting in any semi. I remember last year those countries would be drawn to vote in one or the other semi. Has that changed this year (I guess it should), or have I just screwed up and those countries will be voting tonight (some of them) and on Thursday (the rest of them)???

Azerbaijan, Spain & Italy vote tonight. UK, Germany, France on Thursday.

Romania 1st
Denmark 2nd
Russia 3rd
Greece 4th
Iceland 5th
Moldova 6th
Albania 7th
Ireland 8th
Hungary 9th
Belguim or Israel.

Agree with the lays on Cyprus might sneak in but an easy lay to finish top 3 in this. 6/4 Denmark and Romania dutched strikes me as infinitely better value than Sweden in the outright, and Romania in paricular looks a place lock. Most of the qualification value has gone but Albania should make it through ay 4/6 the 8/14 Romania top3 makes more appeal.

as this is my topic i feel i have the right to amend my 10, same 10 just a little shuffle ok..

1.HUNGARY
2.ROMANIA
3.GREECE
4.FINLAND
5.DENMARK
6.ICELAND
7.CYPRUS
8.SWISS
9.IRELAND
10.RUSSIA

i marked them all out of 10, after much deliberation:

1.Denmark 8
2.Romania 8
3.Iceland 8
4.Cyprus 7
5.Greece 7
6.Ireland 7
7.Russia 7
8.Hungary 6
9.Moldova 6
10.Switzerland 5

11.Albania 4
12.Israel 4
13.San Marin 2
14.Finland 2
15.Belgium 2
16.Latvia 1
17.Austria 0
18.Montenegro 0

This my prediction in order.

Iceland
Romania
Cyprus
Denmark
Moldova
Hungary
Russia
Greece
Israel
Belgium

Here are the 10 qualifiers from the hemsby family jury

Romania 26
Russia 25
Ireland 23
Iceland 23
Greece 20
Hungary 20
Austria 19
Moldova 19
Finland 18
Denmark 17
--------------------
Cyprus 17
Belgium 14
Switzerland 13
Albania 13
Latvia 13
Israel 13
San Marino 9
Montenegro 8

not so random as people think then. out of my predictions, based purely on songs not tactical voting, the top 9 went through and 11th instead of my 10th pick. i should have layed all the the ones i hated!

Sure somebody will have got 10 cba checking maybe more than one

Got 9 I think bloody Albania

loads of 9's but no 10...lonegan & sideshowbob both unlucky...try again thursday boys.
