Yet they're always banging on about how special and unique The Crucible is

Considering its Mr Loadsamoney Baz Hearn we're talking about, a part of me thinks it's done pretty well to hold on till 2027. I really don't fancy its chances of lasting any longer, already made my peace with it tbh

The BBC have extended their contract until 2032, so you’d think there’s every chance it will stay in the UK if it does leave Sheffield. It’s not absolutely clear whether Hearn wants a bigger venue, so they can pay comparable prize money with the darts, or whether he’d be happy with just an increase in prize money - which Sheffield city council could help with. He has a meeting with them over the Bank Holiday weekend, so it should be clearer then. Building a ‘new Crucible’ or making the current Crucible bigger don’t seem to be possibilities.

council tax rises paying the wages for more pampered sports stars,a lot of it finding its way big to China, can see a trump or IDS intervention here
, luckily local council taxpayers would be ok this yr as this yrs likely champion has already got a bank acc full of winnings betting on bent matches ![]() ![]() |
