Played yesterday afternoon, ran over into evening. This guy seems to lose a hell of a lot when heavy odds on. I watched the match, the guy he played was average at best, some of the shots had to be seen to be believed. He managed to contrive a 6-5 loss. Yet watch the market with this guy, he gets very well bet out of the blue against much better players and plays like a world champ. The market always seems to know with him.

Over a 252 tournament career, he's only made 1 final (non-ranking), 3 further semis (1 ranking, 1 non-ranking, 1 invitational) and 9 further quarters (4 ranking, 5 non-ranking). His profile is very much that of a journeyman player.
Since I started my database in Feb 2021, he's losing 4p in the pound at B365 prices corrected to 100% books. That number rises to 15p in the pound this season. I make it 8 starts at odds-on (I don't include Championship League) this season, winning only 3. 8 starts at odds-against, winning 4, most notably against Si Jiahui (though I do class him as being very hot and cold by nature). The only odds-on defeat I'd class as a complete shock was against Dean Young. I think he's just another of these lacking the confidence of going deep in events. I've never really seen anything dodgy in how he plays, though I do have vague recollections of a smelly performance in a CL group a few seasons back. |
