Starts tomorrow at 1300. One table, roll-on, roll-off, final between the two afternoon winners in the evening.
As ever, at least one bobbins first round match, this time MJW v Bai. Nice to see Big Igor back, though not sure what we can expect from him these days. I was a bit sad when COVID ended his time on the main tour.
ITV4 are so far behind they are a dream for courtsiders! Don't leave any bets up that would be taken with a miss or pot. Shots are played even before they get down for the shot = even Eurosport are ahead on time scales. 365 are only slightly ahead of them as well.

First up today, Ronnie v Xiao. V interested to see how much belief Xiao exhibits in this one. Up until recently, I have always questioned just how much of it he has against the big names. I think we potentially learn a lot today. They've not met for 6 years (Ronnie made 4 tons in 5 frames on that occasion), and Xiao has beaten him before (in a PTC BO7 way back in 2011). H2H 4-1 Ronnie.
Watching brief for a bit, I think.

Stephen demonstrating his tremendous betting knowledge there by pointing out Ronnie, 44 in front and in the balls, which are everywhere, looks "odds-on" to go 2-0 up. No $hit, Stephen.

Snooker is a pin job these days, never ever known it so open. You're getting great odds pre tournament but trying to find a winner is similar to a 16 runner handicap at Chester.

The tables in China and these Rassons are definitely levelers, but Xiao's (and to a lesser extent Wakelin's) progression this season is hard to argue with. Amazing what a difference a bit of belief makes. Same with Zhang last season.
The most interesting thing about this week has been the number of frames won to 0. 13 yesterday alone (if you include the one where Ronnie came back to the table 85 behind with only 51 on, just to get table time).

Interesting Tubbs interview, admitting that he's doing his own head in by being sooooo negative. Says he's going to play more like he did in this match for the coming few tournaments as an experiment.

Yes even more impressive and surprising to manage that.
Not exactly out of the blue though this tourny, given his other recent results, a win and other top end finishes.

Everything says Robbo for me, and no "opponent excuse" tonight re fatigue from having a short break between matches earlier in the week. Think Robbo's a good few ticks too big.
MJW not beaten him away from the CL since 2017.
