Baz played brilliantly, almost flawlessly from 4-5 down. Until THAT.

I wish they'd stop talking about "all week" and "a great run to get to the semis". You've won one match to get here! OK, technically you've won a lot more matches over the course of the season to get here, but you know what I mean.

Ronnie leads Robbo 14-8 in the H2H, but Ronnie is 6-0 in matches over more than BO11. Ronnie's won 129 frames to Robbo's 108 overall from a possible 272 frames that could have been played in their meetings.
Over the season as a whole, Robbo is very slightly outscoring Ronnie, but there's only a gnat's tadger in it.
This week, Ronnie has made 17x 50s from 37 frames played, converting 2 into tons, while Robbo has made 14x 50s from 28 frames played, converting 6 into tons.
Ronnie is 0-4 in finals this season to Robbo's 1-2.
Unquestionably, Ronnie should have been dispatched last night by Baz, but once again Baz's frailties of old resurfaced. He'd done so much right in the match and still couldn't get over the line. Robbo is guilty from time to time of trying to be too clever. Undoubtedly he's at his best when he's positive, as we've seen in the two matches he's played this week. The only downside to that in this match-up is that the pressure is going to be on for him to score when his chances come, because if he doesn't, Ronnie will punish any mistakes. It does concern me slightly that he might feel forced down the more negative path as a result....
If it's an open game, it has the potential to be an absolute cracker.

The big problem for me with O'Sullivan is that he has been unable to raise his level in those 4 finals this season, and that is so unlike him. There has been an expectation, before each of them, that he would, as he always does, but he hasn't. This match is potentially massive for Robertson, going forward, as he has geared the whole 2nd half of his season around this tournament and Sheffield. It looks like the penny has finally dropped for him regarding preparation for The Crucible, even if it has taken COVID for him to realise this. He has looked so fresh in his previous 2 matches, and if he can stay positive (and I agree that this is a big 'if' especially if it goes close), then I think he starts slight favourite. He still seems a little in awe of O'Sullivan at times, and the head-to-head put up is a worry for matches played over a reasonable distance, but with a gun to my head I'd pick Robertson - so I've had a small bet on him at odds-against on here.
Ronald on the bridle today. Will want this against Robbo and will want to put his last few finals to bed.
And let's be honest a big thing when betting on Ron is deciding he he bothered about winning.

thing is even if ronnie is finished and gone , there only 3 players that youd expect to beat him trump robbo and selby, and even then he beat selby last year and hammered wilson ,and ronnie i think wasnt very good then imo, and this year robbo and trump in seperate draw to him, and hes seems to go to all the finals this season, might not win it , but near 6/1 
I don't disagree entirely, but as a standalone win price, it's very short given what he's managed this season. I do agree there's a pretty good chance he will go lower. The Ronnie fanboys will make sure of it.
Throughout the entirety of yesterday's match, he was at the very lower end of the shortest you could possibly make him at any given stage, and several times you could have laid a few ticks lower here than was readily available with the books - even when it should have been obvious to the biggest fanboy going that Robbo was extremely likely to prevail.

How low would that 6s go and how quickly? Ronnie could muller some hapless mug 10-0 with 5 tons and the usual hype might take it down to 4s maybe. But i think judd will still be favourite and if robbo continues his form his price will dip too. So doesn't feel like a few years to me when ronnie could go 6/4 or lower on the back of one match. Also think he could be ever so slightly vulnerable against mcgill should they meet, but that's another story.

there's no chance of anything like 6/4 after round 1 unless multiple casualties judd, selby, robbo etc
Given the world's draw and the form they've showed in this tournament, Higgins, Selby and even Trump look better lays at the chocs than ROS and if all 4 top seeds do get to the Semis, he could well be vying for favouritism with Trump.

O'sullivan looks like he's in the semis already,Mc gill and Ding or Maguire to beat he couldn't have picked a better draw for himself players that he has beaten all the time..If mark allen or williams gets through he will be 6/4 tops and iff trump and robertson are out he'll be odds on.
It's very dangerous thinking like that thegiggilo until we see the full draw. Someone like A.Carter or Zhou could easily take him out in R1, and McGill is likely to trouble him in R2 should they meet. And, O'Sullivan's playing schedule this season would be a big concern for me. It is highly likely to catch up with him at Sheffield.
Won't have to worry about A.Carter anyway gobe, soon as Pang Junxu takes him out

Haha, yes that's a nasty one for The Captain, especially over 11 frames. Yes, I think O'Sullivan has basically played in everything because it has all been in the UK, behind closed doors, and he's thought he was bound to win a couple of tournaments. There have been times this season when he has looked jaded, and he hasn't enjoyed any natural breaks from competition, as he has in previous years, when there has been a tournament in China, Germany or Gibraltar etc.
I suppose he didnt play in the German this year or shootout so did skip a couple. Gibraltar too, though only cos he withdrew late after the players. And as to why he'd bother farting his way through the league or series or whatever it was, no idea on that front. Said before i think conditions helped him last year, I've no doubt he appreciated the near empty arena more than most, so won't have that factor on his side this time. Theppy was a lovely R1 draw too, a nice practice round to ease your way into the competition. A carter/mcgill combo would at least push him out of his comfort zone, take a bit out of him. So R1 draw could be quite significant i think.
He probably missed The German as you had to pre-qualify, and he won't do that any more, even if it was to played the Cat A prison that is Milton Keynes! I've got big negatives against everyone, so I have to get one badly wrong...unless it's License picking the trophy up on 3rd May
