Trump at a 1.03/1.04 sp is a bit ridiculous considering how patchy his form has been of late? Surely a 1.1sp would have been more suitable. He's a lay all day.

there are lots of contenders, no clear outstanding favourite. they can all be beaten on a bad day. better to enjoy the opening rounds betting on individual matches. if you insist on outright betting then the usual candidates probably won' be far off the mark. Selby/ROS/Higgins

He had Daesh written on it at first but a lot of people complained so world snooker said he couldn't wear it unless he used the english translation.

it's an IT company that sponsor him, but I still think in present day it's highly inappropriate for him to be wearing that on his waistcoat.
I wish Hazel Irvine (or anybody) would challenge Parrots stupid assertion that there's no better half of the draw. Clearly anyone would want to be in the bottom half, even before trumps exit, and to suggest otherwise is totally and utterly ridiculous which, in fairness, is what John often specialises in.

I will say though that whatever moondan might be wrong about, it certainly aint the nonsense that regularly comes from Parrot, i personally think he speaks more rubbish than the rest of the commentary crew put together and they are never challenged on their opinions, there is no debate.

He wouldnt even be half or even close to it. Someone tipped up Mags here as a bet at 100 or more, maybe appformat, and its the bet of the tournament so far for me, whatever happens from here on in.

Yes, the lack of real debate on the clicky BBC is sickening. The draw is, clearly lop-sided (I took a stab at M.Allen solely because of the draw, and had he been anywhere in the top half I wouldn't have even looked at him). J.Parrott tries to be a snooker intellectual and talks up every player so that when one of them overachieves he can say that he mentioned how good he can be earlier in the tournament and say he's not surprised.

He's more Phil than Gary Neville when it comes to the insightful analysis for me, merely spewing out any oul cliched guff before inevitably tipping Man Utd to win again regardless of who they're playing. "They're all good players, there's no easy games anymore, i dont care what anybody says these are really tough tables, the standard is just ridiculous etc etc". I reckon he'd be a good guy to go on the beer with, full of great stories, but in the studio he's just a guy with a cosy job who aint gonna bite the hand that feeds. Same as the lot of them really.
I have ballrun on my (small but select) team for pretty much the same reason. But the value is gone out of that half now, the hawk at 9/1 already and not even through to R2 yet! These guys aren't going to trade a lot lower even when they reach the quarters.
I will look forward to waking in the morning to a fresh batch of moondan musings and the usual crew of suspects getting it firmly in the neck

This morning I awoke to find myself covered by a duvet lying on the floor of my den. My wife tells me I was found just after midnight by my son who thought the worst.
My wife thought I was just drunk but guessed it was more snooker related when the still going tv was trying to come to terms with its biggest ever shock.
15 hours later and it is no less shocking.
I am stunned, and may I add skint, which for me is the complete opposite to utopia.
With regards to the deserving getting it in the neck they may well find that below the belt will be more my target in the coming days.

Moondan, surely this is the only 2 weeks of the year that such behaviour is not just acceptable but not even aberrational. I felt a huge void earlier when it was around 9.50 and it suddenly dawned on me that there was no morning session and i'd have to go cold turkey until 1pm!
I wasnt aware you were balls deep in judd, in a manner of speaking. Its probably the biggest shock since Tony Knowles took the nugget out, and not even comparable from a 4-0 leading position.

The more I see of this game the more I wonder where the tough guys went, seems nothing remotely in the class of 92 or Hendry.
The four I settled on was Trump, Wilson, Maguire,and Robertson, with 3/4s of my stake on Trump and sadly just a fiver on Maguire at 95s.
Still, apart from having to listen to Davis and his Parrot I am still enjoying most matches.

Jeez moondan, its bad enough to lose 3/4s of your betting bank but then to have all these young tyros snapping at your heels. The wise one is c0ck of the hoop after his short odds lay of the trumpster. I think there might be a new sheriff in town!!

I dont know when we'll see another generation come through like the 90s, that was a golden generation really - higgins, o'sullivan, williams, doherty, mcmanus, ebdon, stevens, hunter, loads more and hendry and davis still kicking around to test them. Dont know about the chinese, but the kids emerging now arent learning the game the same way, they can pot all day long but lack the all round skills required when they get on tour and learn what real pressure is. Its no wonder the over 40s have been having the time of their lives!
