14 reds down and 52 pts scored in the HAwkins v Wilson match. That's the sort of thing I'd do!

if Higgins doesn't beat -1.5 h/cap on the terminally useless Michael white I`ll become a monk

The Welsh Mark Allen is about all I can say about White.

"The mantra in golf is peaking for the Majors...and this is very much a Major."
Phil Yates thinks this is a Major tournament. The mind boggles ![]() |
By:
the cash for winning it should keep the players interested, not a major by any means though
By:
Phil Yates has the most boring voice in sport.
By:
nice to see snooker back in the guild hall, preston
By:
Not just the most boring, but most annoying too...cant listen to him. Horrible manufactured accent, like he's been speaking with marbles in his mouth from age of five

Higgins was woeful. I wager he had a relaxed festive season and ate and drank far too much.
By:
bingham is a verypoor player
By:
he was very lucky to win a world championships
By:
Bucket jibes apart Bingman was exceptional all through that world champs. Luck alone will get you nowhere near becoming a world champion.
Quality wise, though, i'd accept he's probably the poorest world title holder since Joe Johnson. |
By:
yeh when I say he was lucky to win I mean he was lucky he played the snooker of his life at the exact right time
By:
Yeah i'd accept that.
Put it another way, he beat 3 former champs and the heir apparent (trump) to win the title. Robertson beat 1 top 16 player for his title in 2010. Now that's what i'd call lucky! |
By:
yeh robbos run is insanely lucky

Is this the first TV tournament where the sponsors name is seen on the standard full-table shot? The shot is zoomed out around 20% from normal to accommodate the logos. It makes everything too small. This is not easy on the eye at all.
By:
Maybe even 30%...
By:
I'm still not sure who the sponsors are....its not written enough there. Should stencil it into the table cloth so there's no confusion. On second thoughts dont want to be giving them ideas
By:
Barry is making notes as we speak...
To be honest I would prefer the stencil at the baulk end to this! Its me who need the contact lenses not Smurph. Its ok If you have a massive lcd screen - not great on the laptop. Come on ITV - ZOOM IN. |
By:
Table angle looks ok on my screen but i'd rather they didn't blot out the crowd (or whatever crowd is there) so they can shove those sponsors logos in your face every shot.

This boy Yan could be a player, was expecting a 4-niller here but doesn't look overawed in the slightest. Hard to believe he's still only 16

He certainly doesn't look overawed, and has showed a bit of his personality before and during the match. He's going to be so good in a few years time, as is Zhou Yuelong. With nothing coming through in terms of young players in the UK, apart from A.McGill and K.Wilson these 2 really could be the game's future.
By:
Zhou Yuelong is having a shocker.
