Although I like watching Fu. Great economy of movement round and at the table. Clinical breakbuilder when he is in the mood. Lets hope he finds his way into the zone tonight.
Report pauliow April 26, 2015 7:29 PM BST
I've got £200 on Trump @ 7.2. He lengthened after Ronnies performance earlier but I'm hoping he'll shorten up again with a reasonable performance tonight.
Report ccd April 26, 2015 7:35 PM BST
Im not sure he is robust enough to win this year. He will shorten though...Good luck.
Report pauliow April 26, 2015 7:38 PM BST
Thanks. He's as good as anybody when he's in the balls and his safety has improved. I just thought he might be at least worth a trade at that price.
Report pauliow April 26, 2015 7:39 PM BST
And he's 7.2 to lay now so I can get my money backLaughLaugh
Report Angel Gabrial April 26, 2015 7:49 PM BST
He is plenty robust enough, a never say die attitude.
Report pauliow April 26, 2015 7:54 PM BST
He's playing as well as anybody tonight
Report ccd April 26, 2015 9:09 PM BST
Some bkue from Fu there. Higgins-esque the way the white swung back off the side rail.
Report gentlemanjohn April 26, 2015 9:10 PM BST
That's the new Judd for you, playing pots not even possible!
Report BARROWBOY April 26, 2015 10:34 PM BST
think theres mileage in this match still,fu's played really well so far & imo is a bit unlucky to be 4 behind, would love to see him win the first couple tomorrow to see how trump reacts.
Report thegiggilo April 26, 2015 10:35 PM BST
Trump reverting to type, the further infront he got the more pressure he looked under I could see it the otherday but he held himself back could well be the season catching up..
Report trebor April 26, 2015 10:48 PM BST
There is a lot of talk about how Judd has improved tactically, I don't see it, just  about every frame he pushes the boat out and goes for a crazy shot, he gifted Fu frames in that final session, he can still lose this match now where he should be coasting. Fu didn't take advantage of the morning chances he was gifted, a better play will.
Report jed.davison April 26, 2015 10:52 PM BST
Don't think he plays like that unless he knows fu cant possibly beat him.
Report paddletoe April 26, 2015 11:08 PM BST
Agree with Jed. Trump has improved greatly his patience and thinking. Being a good match player is situational so I would bet on him now being able to adapt the right balance between attacking and safety play in a different match situation where he wont get away with so many mistakes in shot selection.
Report trebor April 26, 2015 11:19 PM BST
We have just seen 16 frames today, he has just given frames away? I don't believe you can switch patience on when you want too, thats like a alcoholic not having a drink unless he wants one?
He went for that 147 when on 25points, he can't resist shots and it will cost him plenty of matches.
Report gentlemanjohn April 26, 2015 11:32 PM BST
I'm halfway with trebor here, i think he has improved tactically and mentally, but only the next week will tell us if its sufficient to win a tough looking world champs. Playing controlled matchplay, as in making all the correct decisions, is habit forming and develops over years, and switching off and losing your focus cos you deem your opponent not worthy of respect is not a great sign for me. Maybe you do that if you are ROS, 5 titles to your name and you know you intimidate your opponents by reputation alone, but was a bit alarmed to see those couple of loose frames from Judd tonight, not even 2/3 way through the match. Could easily have been 9-7 overnight and just a little bit nervy for comfort.
Report paddletoe April 26, 2015 11:37 PM BST
I think you can and he will when he needs to. He does not throw many frames away over best of 7 or best of 9 in all the recent tournaments in have seen him play. But its hard to have a 5 frame lead in a best of 7 or 9!
Report appformat April 27, 2015 12:08 AM BST
We're overdue a classic Crucible comeback.. could their be one tomorrow? Love
Report Angel Gabrial April 27, 2015 3:42 AM BST
Have to disagree with this Trebor and agree with Jed and Paddy

You adapt to the situation, yes Trump pushed the boat out but that was all to do with the scoreline. He was attempting to wrap the match up with a session to spare. Nothing to do with pressure, more to do with showboating.

If don`t think that he can reign in his showboating then i have to disagree.

Report paddletoe April 27, 2015 9:25 AM BST
Personally think it was a good sign that Trump is not stuck in a one dimensional style but seems to have developed an excellent risk reward approach to his thinking. You cant throw away frames in a best of 7 but if you want to play to the crowd you do it in a best of 25 when your in total control of the match situation.
Report trebor April 27, 2015 9:41 AM BST
AG you trying to make my point for me? If he wanted to win with a session to spare then he should be able to resist these shots and grind out a better opportunity, you can lose frames without making mistakes you don't need give your opponent a free go nearly every frame which is what he has done in this match.

Maybe as someone has said he does not think Fu can beat him over this longer format, but you have to treat every opponent with respect and you do that by treating every shot with respect, Fu should be out the form Judd was in yesterday, but he still has a faint chance.

Anyway what you doing posting at 3.43am you not lumped on large on this match and now can't sleep I hope Grin
Report jed.davison April 27, 2015 9:44 AM BST
I think he can play a lot tighter against people he has some fear of, but I'm not particularly pleased to see him relaxing because he thinks fu can not possibly beat him. Essentially he's given fu a way back into he match when ere was just no need to give him an inch. He could possibly regret it today, he wouldn't be he first to come out of he zone and struggle to get back to it, and he will have given fu some confidence.

That said, if it does go close, fu is a huge bottler and trump isn't, he has no nerves at all, trump still wins.

Lol Trevor, was typing when you posted.
Report jed.davison April 27, 2015 9:46 AM BST
Apologies for the typos, and particularly your name trebor, bloody autocorrect on overdrive.
Report gentlemanjohn April 27, 2015 10:13 AM BST
Selfishly I actually hope Judd hasn't changed all that much and remains the maverick gunslinger, shooting up the whole saloon or dying honourably in the fight. While i agree with trebor, i'm not down on Judd for it, it was great entertainment while he was letting go yesterday. He played like a god in frame 12 and started believing, for a time, he could do anything. Snooker needs its mavericks. I'd like Judd to be champion but not to compromise himself too much in the process.
Report Angel Gabrial April 27, 2015 10:25 AM BST
Well said John.

He was playing so well in frame 12 that he set himself the challenge of winning the next 3 going for glory. His self confidence is beaming at the moment.
Will he play like that against the better players, well he will keep changing his percentages. He has been well disciplined all season and the Crucible is the best place to showboat if you get the chance, he let loose for a few frames. Perhaps it`s out of his system now.

Fu needs needs to win 7 of the remaining 9
Report jed.davison April 27, 2015 10:27 AM BST
No way.
Report paddletoe April 27, 2015 10:50 AM BST
In the words of Kenny Rodgers every frame's a winner and every frames a loser but you never count your winninsg when your sitting at the table, there will be plenty of time for counting when the dealings done next Monday night.
He had a wee blow out yesterday but Trump realised a while ago that if was going to play the game he had to learn to play it right. Now he knows what cards to hold and which ones to fold.

Memo to self; Record some snooker to playback Thursday morning to look like I am working, otherwise may get tour of bl@@dy garden centre's again.

As I said once before not a Judd hatter just want him to do well, I can liken it to when Ronnie had Reardon in his corner, he was virtually unbeatable at that time, would like Judd to do the same.
Report Angel Gabrial April 27, 2015 1:17 PM BST
Ronnie played a complete B game then though Trebor. Remember Ronnie was taking on hardly any long pots, like taking a 2 iron off every tee, didn`t Tiger do something similar at St Andrews?
Report gentlemanjohn April 27, 2015 1:43 PM BST
It was at hoylake, Angel, one driver all week i think. Even Tiger at his wildest can chance a few drivers on the holy turf of St Andrews, fairways like big massive buckets Wink

It was St Andrews that he never went into a bunker which takes some doing around there the way they gather

If Ding brings his form from his last match it'll be a cracking match against Judd.
Report gentlemanjohn April 27, 2015 4:30 PM BST
Ding leads hth 6-5 and they shot 7 centuries between them last time they met in the worlds. Potential for a belter for sure.
Report stu April 27, 2015 5:46 PM BST
Value Ding at the prices for sure - leads their H2H, and beat him in a final last meeting.
Report jed.davison April 27, 2015 6:22 PM BST
Ding lost the first four frames to Dark Mavis and five of the first six to the Cheat.

No disrespect to either of them ability-wise, but he has to turn up for the first session with Judd or he could get beat a landslide. His head can go worse than any other player on tour and beating a journeyman and a washed-up crook has told us next to nothing abut how well he is prepared to face the best player in the world in a best of 25 at the Crucible.

Two results for me - a heavy Trump win, or a close Trump win. One of these players possesses heavy-duty confidence and self-belief, the other can fold - and his folded several times - like a deckchair.
Report stu April 27, 2015 7:59 PM BST
Didn't fold last time they met - 9-5 win for Ding in a final.
Report stu April 27, 2015 8:00 PM BST
Agree about the slow start issue - although he lost frame one in that one above.
Report jed.davison April 27, 2015 8:04 PM BST
Feel free to base your opinion on one match, I prefer to base mine on known Crucible form and known propensity to lose his bottle when he can't roll an opponent over.
Report stu April 27, 2015 8:05 PM BST
H2H isn't one match though.
Report stu April 27, 2015 8:08 PM BST
Crucible based form is an interesting one for this - very close semi match of course where Ding went ahead, then lost in a 17 frame sized game.
Report jed.davison April 28, 2015 1:44 AM BST
I don't have quite the same disdain for the hths in snooker as your mate super nap does in football, but what do they really mean? Trump was 15 I think when they played one of those matches.

I like Ding, as a guy and a snooker player, but I just do not see how he represents value to win this game.

All about opinions though. Good luck with your bets, I'm just hoping Ding turns up, would love to see him play to the best of his ability. If they both play their top level, will be a classic. But be aware, that only one of them has a b game, and it ain't ding.
Report Angel Gabrial April 28, 2015 8:52 AM BST
Only one of the players is on an upward curve and that is Trump.
Trump looks more confident than ever and 1.58 looks big to me.
