Wonder will they do another final frame reenactment for the 30th anniversary? Steve surely gunning for revenge after sensationally losing the first rematch 5 years ago.

Yes, I recall that very staged event 5 years ago. They ARE actually going to do another one this year. I watched the 1985 final live and what always sticks in my mind is the look of horror on Steve's face as he watched the white ball coming back down to give Taylor the easiest pot he could ever ask for to win the championship. Taylor took a minute or so to get up from his seat and compose himself before sinking the black, and, with no such thing as live betting back in those days, it would have been 'interesting' to have seen the Betfair odds had such a thing existed prior to the shot... 1.02 ------ 1.03 would be my guess, given the enormity of the shot and the pressure he was under. But I certainly expected him not to miss. He could get his arm on the table and look right into the pocket.

Davis was awful in the first round and only won because Cope has completely gone at the game and somebody had to win in the end but it was social club snooker. Maflin reached the Semi final of the China open recently, outplayed Murphy and made loads of frame winning breaks. If he gets the amount of chances I think he will then Maflin wins 10-5 or better and at 3/10 is probably a good bet.

Maflin should win I guess but think Davis could do better than 5 frames. Its as if he can bring better players down to his own current level, or maybe he still carries a bit of an aura about him when he's playing these guys. I don't know if that's the case, but it does occur to me sometimes.

Said it before that I don't think Maflin has the game craft or ability to go beyond a certain level in snooker but he is a fluent player when in form and can look good against lesser players where he is not punished for the one or two mistakes he makes each frame.

We have talked of players with poor attitudes, Davis probably has one of the best attitudes and if coming up against someone who is not prepared themselves for a tough match, they could end up very frustrated.
But Davis's game is in decline and Maflin holds a 3-1 record over Davis, beating him 10-7 at this stage two years ago, think the odds are about rite.

Davis so bad today. Maflin giving him plenty of chances but Steve missing everthing.

Parrys has summed it up perfectly. Davis missed shots in the 9th frame that were unbelievable.

all over Maflin wins 10-1.As someone who grew up watching Davis in his prime that was a game I wish I hadn't watched.

You can't win them all.
he's 57, it's amazing he's competing at this level at all.
play the same match another day you'll probably have a different result.
form is allways changing.
