UK Final 2012: Selby v.s. Murphy

any chance in having 1 frame where selby doesnt get over 4 or 5 "fortunates" in it!..its happened every frame from the 1st frame

what the **** are we waiting for!

1.04, that's how close he was to out

10-9 either way fellas?

theres 1 "fortunate"..brown come to his rescue!

I'm already missing US golf on a Sunday evening. Thought I'd check out the snooker. Idle hands! One more frame for Selby and I can't lose. Once he gets it, I think I'll be off to my bed. Snooker is so slow and generally I find d it a bit of a lottery to bet on. Would u agree?

oh fk off murphy!

oh yeah liability to bet on but great sport to watch

love snooker for trading , u have to understand the sport to trade successfully in running really imho

lol dont be silly..as selby would have bad luck

Judd trump is the new alex higgins/ jimmy white , ronnie will hopefully be back

Bot no personality or charima the pair of them, judd masy revive the sport if he can start playing well under pressure as for o'sullivan forget it

love this kind of battle, mental pugilism

look at that blue

think snooker is good for trading and betting two way markets changes very quickly odds flying like in tennis just need to know sport and not to be too emotional and dont worry about "names"

Some break this by Selby

Selby in god mode

Ronnie will be back for worlds why do you think the pulled the betting 9/2. Hearn wants him there

that was a quality break

next frame is crucial for Murphy

No better way to describe this match

that was a bad miss fatty

lovely rattle then by selby.. theres the "fortunate" for this frame

made myself a mug of earl grey and a cheese and pickle sandwich to see this one through , work is done , can relax and enjoy the snooker now

look at that!

another "fortunate"

what a lucky coont!

snooker is a horrible game

u just cant make it up

No, Selby makes snooker look horrible

think it's worse than golf for run of the ball

smacks in a red and then isnt on the black poor fecker

Selby is a liitle unlucky says virgo lol

wow , he's got away with it AGAIN !!

nothing left again hehe

lucky fecker again! left nowt the coont

cant see the red

covered it

ffs what a run of the ball

great shot

as they say u have to be good to be lucky

the fat mans long potting is brilliant

great pot on the red

deserves to get a start

well played son ya fat coont

massive ask to clear up from here

best long potter of a ball by a country mile is murphy on his day.

would be a massive clearance

lol virgo

the 1.01 backer of over 16.5 frames will be hoping Murphy can nick 1 more frame

phucked it up

probably favouring selby, what is virgo watching

why the **** did he play that red??

virgo

has he left it?

massive shot this red

ooooooo , the blue

Goodnight

porky pig fkked it up

unfrickinbelievable

murphys trademark, easy miss from nowhere

been watching Willie Thorne,shocking blue

smurf needs to win 4 on the trot now ...

for a professional snooker player to miss a blue like that is like a pro golfer missing a 2 foot putt

that will just destroy him mentally now , 10-6 imho

mUG

Looks bent this match that must be the 6th or 7th shot that murphys played in the wrong way, rolled it instead of soft stun the blue in the middle when he was playing for the two bottom reds only had to stun above the red played with side to come off two cushions. Some of the strangest shots i've seen from a pro and absolutely no pressure selbys played garbage, you can see he;s going to play the wrong shot every frame and the pros nearly all play the same shot in the exact same way.

go and smoke some coffee ya clown!

shame it didn't go 8-7, would have been a better dynamic and I'm up for watching more frames til the packers game starts

cmmon mark finish this off

selby wins this frame i reckon , murphy has played 2 really reckless shots

Put it this way murphys [played the shots differently to 99% of how pros wouldv'e played the shots he's played on at least a dozen occasions strangest shot selections when position was guaranteed playing a simpler shot.

LOL LOL

bad luck

he didnt end up on the colour

JUST AMAZING LUCK

porky will miss a sitter at some point

just as i wrote

WAS THE POSITIONAL THAT DONE HIM

And another why screw onto the cushion.

'2nd prize'

BJ tonight then Mark

luck after luck after luck

well dr C, murphy was in but missed

yesssss , backed selby heavy that last frame

traded at 1.03 ALL green

shot that

murph should have some dignity and coincide

nah , he won't give up , but its in vain methinks

murphy should of come out the first session with a lead but instead he came out level at 4-4 and he has now lost 8 of the last 10 frames

brilliant by selby

just gone midnight

wasnt brilliant he was poor..not o ne century all match and relied on the run of the balls as normal for him the whole game!

strange final but still wasnt that bad

'Hardest player on tour by a mile' eh?

top man murphy these days brilliant guy

yeah , it wasn't a great final, but i'm pleased for selby that he won the UK , better player to watch than Smurf imho

One of the worst uk finals ever, the standards higherhendry must be rubbing his eyes in disbelief!!Is selbys wife the lead singer of the damned!!

Mark's wife is a Pro 8 ball player , thats where they met i think , when selby was playing 8 ball pool

Standard was poor all week

funny enough the highest standard all week was murphy 5 in a row vs the captain

there were some good matches nice comebacks, murphy selby nearly higgins

The uk was always a must to watch higgins/davis final completely different gravy to this and that was 30 years ago most uks are usually top class that week was dire.

i knew he was mentally wrecked after that blue , was never gonna win that last frame , was finished

You're not wrong Don. A sport desperately in need of a boost.

Although he has comfortably remained one of the top players Murphy hasn't really gone on from his World title as you might have expected. This represented a great opportunity to get back on track but he effectively fell apart. Yes, Selby had some good running but it wasn't as if Murphy didn't have plenty of chances and in the end 10-6 represents a relatively easy scoreline for a player well short of his best. Selby's performance was pretty reminiscent of Mark Williams in that he was just doing enough to win but clearly that was aided by the very poor performance by Murphy. He doesn't appear to be able to win 'ugly'. If Murphy was a racehorse you would be thinking about the Timeform squiggle.

One thing Murphy can't be beaten at is how he deals with defeats. Sign of a true champion.

have to agree with vasek, although Murphy has his critics , he took defeat very graciously last night and comes across as a very humble fella...
but overall I'm happy that selby won...
