An excellent day ahead snooker wise and for me two very good bets.  In this afternoon's game you can have even money on either Marco Fu or Matthew Stevens.  I find it difficult to ignore the way Fu is playing despite a dreadful H2H record against Stevens and for that reason I want to be with Marco Fu in that one.  Tonight sees what I would call the "bet of the week" as Stephen Maguire takes on Stuart Bingham.  I have Maguire a 4/7 shot so the the 4/5 on offer will do me very nicely.  It's a maximum value bet for me, win or lose.

Marco Fu to beat Matthew Stevens @ Evens
Stephen Maguire to beat Stuart Bingham @ 4/5

Some top matches to look forward to such a shame it's best of 11 and not the best of 19 it used to be.

I have Stevens but will wait for Maguire odds to get up a bit to back him.
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? December 4, 2012 2:39 PM GMT
I would think Stevens will win, although Fu does have a decent record against him.

two fine bad players at moment. Terrible stuff

I have Stevens and  Bingham
Stevens is in good form at York.
Bingham is playing as well as anyone over last few months.

nb
Fu? what is he up to here?missing by miles.

Fu left his best game behind against Allen. That was his 'final' after the comments Allen made about him. He's off the boil against Stevens, 3-1 behind and not playing like he's likely to come back.

Each day is different and each mid-session interval can change things. Not that I would like to see Fu coming back, though.
Report YOMOMMA December 4, 2012 3:24 PM GMT
Yep I thought the mid session interval might see Fu turn it around but it's not going to happen.
Report YOMOMMA December 4, 2012 3:25 PM GMT
I backed Stevens -1.5 in the interval. Looks good.

Fu can't get close to a pot let alone pot one. 6-1 or 6-2 Stevens.

if this was a certain JH

Typical, soon as I said he can't pot a ball he wins the next frame in one visit.

My kind of game in the club this

Amazing break from Stevens to go 5-4 up.
Report YOMOMMA December 4, 2012 5:41 PM GMT
I won. What a match 4-1 to 4-4 then 6-4. Topsy turvy match if ever there was one. Stevens not playing well enough to win the tournament, will need to improve.
Report Vasek December 4, 2012 5:58 PM GMT
In my opinion Stevens played very well, his long potting was amazing and if he could manage to respond in the way he did to Fu's comeback from 4-1 to 4-4 then he surely has plenty to offer yet. However for him, if he faces John Higgins next, then he'll need to adjust his tactical plan a bit because he is usually going for his shots bit too much. Higgins would most likely take advantage of any error.

Yes, you can always argue that Stevens's playing well early on was caused by Fu's not playing well and you would have a point in that.

Now I'm curious to see what happens with Maguire's price pre-match...

One thing is for sure, though. Maguire wins over Bingham 6-3 in walk-on music Cool

Looks like Maguire is at it again.
Report gawdalmighty December 4, 2012 10:23 PM GMT
Bingham was perfecto, out-played Maguire with class & skill. Bingham for the final Cool
