what made the shoulder charge to the head worse was that Watson was already held.
if the Lions, the best of Northern hemisphere rugby, can't beat the All Blacks over 50 minutes with 14 men, they might as well just give up and go home

Indeed. The gulf in class for 65 mins of the 1st test would suggest that a Lions +1 man would just about be fair.

Great stuff isn't it. NZ down to 14 men so let's give them a big help by giving lots of penalties away and generally playing rubbish. Have the Lions got a bet on the AB or something?
He seemed determined to get himself sent off, ridiculous. Like the comms said, all they needed to win this match was discipline. Brainless stuff at the moment.

unbelievable low IQ stupidity from the Lions, wtf is going on?
don't think either of these sides can hold a candle to some of the previous ones
If Barrett had kicked all his pens they'd be out of site by now
well..fair play to the ABs..dug in & basically shown up this Lions team as poor
ABs havent really done anything, just kept the ball and waited for the Lions to give them penalties

first Lions attack of the half, thats all they needed to do, keep the ball and grind the ABs down until the tire
squirmed in really well there as it goes..good opportunism
21 points from penalties and a few more missed says it all really. without the silly penalties the Lions would have won comfortably.

When they gave a yellow card to Vunipola, there was a clear kick in the head on Lions No 7 on the ground in the same replay shot! First foul should have been given. Any way the Lions have won so lets celebrate.

^yeh, and also shows how tough the ABs are to beat, even with 14 men. Only got beat by 3 points.

it was a fine line. i thought he already had the ball and not convinced the pass was really too high. he seemed to take a look

^ agreed, and would have been a more comfortable win for the Lions if it wasn't for all the silly penalties. Still, it made for an exciting edge-of-your=seat finish 
and see the man coming so could call it very smart play.
Similar to when there is a vaguely high tackle (or a clear out for instance) that the NZ player reacts as if been shot and gets the player a yellow for nothing more than NZ - and every other team do at the clear out - perhaps? Or maybe overreacting to a borderline late tackle after a kick has gone and getting a pen when exactly the same thing happened the other way round (without the over-reaction) mins previously and thus no pen you mean - funny game rugby innit?

Another cracking match. My rule of avoiding betting on any match officiated by a French referee was vindicated once again. I won't rest until French refs are banned from the Southern Hemisphere!! Even for holidays. The most notable aspect of the match for me was the BL defence. A step up from last week,and last week was excellent too.
thought ref had a good game. He didn't go too far with the overpunishment of the Lions after the red, didn't over react to the Mako/Barrett incident (which the TMO seemed to be baying for) and reffed the breakdown and maul well. Peyper in contrast was allowing the Blacks to get away with all sorts (sacking the maul at source/ entering the ruck from anywhere)
Peyper is not the reason the Lions got flogged last week.

The verdict on the match is a curly one no doubt. Garces decided the winner with the red card which I have about 10% doubts. BL defence was monumental. BB two very easy shots at goal missed. BL scored two tries to zero. The final penalty decision is something that will be argued for decades. Would BL have won if 15 on 15? Highly unlikely.Did BL improve on last week? YES.

It's great to see the All Blacks beaten for a change and it sets up a great decider match next week. Can't wait!! Will any French CXNTTS be near a Whistle??????
ABs don't like losing do they? They also don't like being reffed properly-well like everyone else anyway.

Not sure the players given the honour of playing for the British Lions would appreciate being described as a 'scratch team.'
of course they are exceptional players,I didn't say they were bad players, but they still haven't played together before.

The French referee who actually DID HIS JOB PROPERLY should get the Legion d'Honneur for being the solitary man with a spine this last 50 years to send off an AB in a Test Match, and the first in over 100 years to do so on NZ soil. Can we have some more of this please? God only knows there have been no shortage of qualifying opportunities.
More predictably, the spineless media didn't do their job properly afterwards, not trying very hard to get NZ representatives to acknowledge that the red-card 'collision' on Watson was insanely dangerous.

He would be a loss, most carries this week, joint second on the tackle count, way more yardage than any other forward with ball in hand last week, he's really been looking at his best.
If he is out, where do you go? POM the obvious choice, shifting Warburton to 7? I'm not sure it's the answer, he's a dog, gives something special to the lineout but he brings relatively nothing in terms of dynamism or carrying ability. Tipuric would certainly add in those areas, and he's looked in good form (bar maybe the last mid week game) but it's the physicality aspect that i think has stopped Gatland promoting him to the Test team. Stander then the obvious choice at 6? While he will undoubtedly be the go to forward carrier should he be in the team, he's not looked in form to me all tour. Despite the howls from the Kiwi's that he should have been sent off SOB is cleared by the panel and free to play next week
